About Riftborne

Riftborne is a slow, long-form sci-fi strategy game built around patience, planning, and scale. The enemies adapt to your play style over time, and even across new game saves. You begin with a single base. That grows into a network of colonies, fleets, supply lines, defenses, contracts, and political influence. Early progress is small and deliberate. Later, the game opens into logistics, faction conflict, economic pressure, territorial control, and rival powers that have had time to grow into serious threats. This is not a fast campaign. A run can unfold over weeks or months as your empire develops.Riftborne is aimed at players who enjoy learning a dense system, building momentum slowly, and seeing small decisions matter much later. If you want constant action, rapid unlocks, or a campaign built to be finished in a weekend, this probably will not be your kind of game.

Key Features

  • Slow-burn empire building across long campaigns
  • Deep logistics, economy, production, and storage management
  • Terminal-style HUD built for dense strategic information
  • Procedural galaxy generation with meaningful geography
  • Faction politics, diplomacy, and military pressure at galactic scale
  • Contracts, markets, and economic systems that support different playstyles
  • Campaign history, rankings, medals, and long-run progression tracking

Such a cool game! Terminal based and already quite in-depth. If you used to like browsergames like Tribal Wars, Ogame, and so on, you will like this =)

This game feels like a mix of Dwarf Fortress but also Stellaris. I like that it also feels somewhat of an idle game, so you can play this while you watch anime, or as of now the FIFA cup. Then when tasks are done you can pause and reassign and continue. If that feels like a turnoff don't be because you can easily advance time and get tasks done faster. I do wish the maps are bigger as I feel 300x300 is big but like I want massive maps. Maybe 1000x1000 and then I'd be happy spending weeks on a single save. Overall I reccomend this game to anyone who is into space and strategy games.

Interesting take on the 4x, can't say I'm not enjoying the time I've spent playing it. Good: - Timer based simulation is an interesting mechanic. Advancing through the game is great, but also letting it run as you do stuff around the house is great too. - Looks great for a text based terminal game imo - Resource collection/upgrade loop plays well especially if you're a number goes up type of guy. Looking at economy and production mechanics through a use it or lose it type of lens is also something you don't see often in alot of in 4x's. - Plenty of flavor, corporate simulation with a stock market is a nice touch. Big reoccurring theme is many of the mechanics are simple but have a ton of depth, and are super unique. Helps the game stand out among similar games with higher graphical fidelity. Okay: - Still rough around some edges, but still getting plenty of updates from the dev. - I know it's limited by being terminal base, but UI and Docs could use some improvement. Too many clicks to get to certain actions or get a highlevel idea of what's happening. Some buttons/mechanics aren't explained too well in the guide (was struggling a bit with SPU's) Bad: - May be user error, but w…

Somehow the entire game is playable in a Powershell terminal, absolute gem in 2026.

I have zero clue what I'm doing lol I read the codex and browsed the discord and yeah still no clue. I'm having fun though. 3 hours in to a campaign and I'm probably 3/5 on spy missions and 1/1 on raids so I guess that's not terrible aside from being broke. It'd be cool if I could play this on mobile too. Edit #1: I don't know why this game is so addicting, but it is. Edit #2: 40 hours in and I still don't know what I'm doing, but still in the same campaign and still having fun.

This game is the best. This game relaxing as hell the Music, Aesthetic and the gameplay in it self. Also it has the best devs ever super sweet and helpfuld and dont get me started on the community probally the best one ever. And if you game here to find out What the game is actually about well here you go: its a faction like warfare game ( online and solo ) Where you have manage resources and make a spaceship army how cool is that, and if you ask if theres more im too lazy to write it all but yes theres more lots more. Also this game takes time to learn slight learning curve but 100% worth itand it takes a lot of time to play it. But overall rating 10/10 and theres so much I want say but it’ll take thousands of more words and if youre starting out go watch redsun on YouTube he has a tutorial video maybe a little outdated ( hopefully he will a updated version soon ) that was all for this mini novel of review. Plz like this review so it can grow and get even more people to join the riftborne community. Best of luck to yall New players and have a blessed life bye.
