About Rogue Fable III
The legendary Goblet of Yendor, some say it grants immortality, but others say its infinite power will drive you to madness. Rumored to be made of solid gold, inlaid with gems of incredible beauty and size, it will surely fetch a fortune on the black market. Many a rogue and scoundrel, lured by dreams of endless riches, have set out to steal the illusive artifact from the depths of the Dungeon of Dread. None have survived, will you be the first to succeed?
Rogue Fable III captures the challenge, tactics, depth and complexity of classic roguelikes but with a modern interface that minimizes the learning curve for new players, and allows veteran roguelike fans to quickly get up to speed. The game was designed to be winnable in under an hour while still retaining the deep gameplay and wealth of content that the genre is famous for. While very challenging at times, every run is ultimately winnable and a true test of player skill and knowledge.
To try the game out right now check out the free web demo on Kongregate, NewGrounds or Itch.io. The web version is now many updates behind but is completely playable from start to finish and does a good job of showing off the core mechanics of the game.

Rogue Fable III is a classic roguelike developed and published by Pixel Forge Games that successfully modernizes one of gaming's oldest genres without abandoning its defining principles. Built around the timeless quest to recover the legendary Goblet of Yendor from the dangerous Dungeon of Dread, the game places its emphasis on strategic gameplay rather than cinematic storytelling. Instead of relying on lengthy cutscenes or an elaborate narrative, it delivers a focused adventure where every expedition is shaped by procedural generation, meaningful choices, and the constant tension between risk and reward. Its straightforward premise allows the mechanics to take center stage, resulting in a rewarding experience that appeals to both genre veterans and players discovering roguelikes for the first time. One of the game's standout qualities is its commitment to making traditional roguelike mechanics more approachable. While it preserves staples such as permanent death, turn-based movement, randomized dungeons, and careful resource management, it presents these systems through a clean interface and intuitive design. The result is a game that avoids overwhelming newcomers with unnecessar…4 found this helpful
quite good, especially for the price. A little more variety in the branches would be welcome2 found this helpful
Simple but excellent old-school roguelike. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but if this kind of turn-based, randomly generated dungeon crawl is your jam, definitely give it a play.
a more casual traditional roguelike than the standard fare. Fun, relaxing but uninspiring. Also suffers from restart fatigue, since there is not enough variety in the earlier levels.
