Each agent has 5 stats with different values, ranging from 0 to 5. The value corresponds to the number of dice allocated when performing a stat roll.

Some cases offer diverse and immersive gameplay with genre and era-specific puzzles (read: mini-games). They are a mixture of cryptograms, digital and analog mechanics: reflex-based as well as mathematical challenges.

By using cards, stat values are temporarily increased for dice rolls. Gear Cards have a tier value which indicates the rarity of the card, as well as a durability factor, indicating the total amount of uses the card has before it is removed from the inventory.

To root out the cancer gnawing at the city, use all the power and resources available to you: from your agents and era-accurate surveillance technology to friends in high places.

But look out – behind the curtains of this struggle for justice, a much bigger story is playing out. A secret organization with grand ambitions spread its influence over Seneca City, and it has you in its crosshairs.

Just completed the first story chapter out of 5, and God it's a shame this game didn't get more traction. If it did, the map controls could've been polished, the bugs could've been eradicated, the occasional voice drafts (I'm sure some of the draft placeholders seeped into the final game) would be replaced. And then, it would be a very solid game with original premise, palpable atmosphere of the 80s, and the soundtrack to kill for (I even bought it which is something I never do). In any case, even if it's not perfect and will never be, give it a shot. The stylish appearances of the agents alone are worth a bit of your time.

Rough Justice: ’84 is a strategy and management game developed by Gamma Minus and published by Daedalic Entertainment that blends detective storytelling, board-game mechanics, and puzzle-style mini-games into a distinctive crime-themed experience. Set in the stylized environment of a fictional American city during the mid-1980s, the game places players in charge of a private security and investigation agency attempting to restore order in a crime-ridden metropolis. Rather than focusing on traditional action gameplay, the title emphasizes decision-making, probability management, and strategic planning as players attempt to solve cases while managing a team of operatives. The narrative centers on Jim Baylor, a former police officer who has recently been released from prison after being wrongfully convicted of corruption. Returning to a city that has grown far more dangerous in his absence, Baylor struggles to rebuild his life and reputation. With the encouragement of old allies, he establishes a private agency dedicated to solving crimes and protecting citizens in ways the police can no longer manage. This premise sets the stage for a story that unfolds through conversations, case r…

This game was recommended to me by Steam. I looked at the store page and was instantly attracted by the lovely ladies in the screenshots. I was lucky to pick it up for a steal during a sale. Once I started playing, I discovered the following flaws: tedious gameplay, terrible puzzles, non-existent difficulty and a ridiculous story. But the game kept me engaged and I completed it. It’s definitely an underrated experience for those who can look past the flaws.

I don't even know what to say, this "game" is an absolute mess and it doesn't feel like a game at all. Refunded.

There is a lot to unpack here. I'm going to give this game a positive simply because it deserves to pass the generally positive threshold, mainsly for the story and artstyle. The gameplay itself is simple and minimalistic, but does its job to keep the player entertained throughout the main story playtthrough for around 10 hours. And I do recommend giving it a shot as the plot develops in quite unexpected way with the intrigue thickening with every chapter. Towards the end we are not solving a local gang case anymore, but rather take down a whole conspiracy network that has been developing under everyone's noses. It is cleverly written and well paced, definitely the biggest highlight of the game. However, at least at the very beginning, we might be thrown out of the immersion time and again by the gameplay mechanics which are not very intuitive and the tutorial does a poor job at explaining them. There is even a possibility of us running quickly out of funds and being forced to restart the game. Luckily, as soon as we get the hang of the base mechanics and the snowballing effect kicks in, there is no such threat abymore. And with that we reach the point when the story ends, …
