I had the opportunity to try out this little-indie game and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. I was honestly surprised at how much content there was for an Early Access build and genuinely impressed by the game's feel and vibe. In ROVA, you play as a roving space vehicle that has been set the task of photographically documenting a world's biodiversity and geography. After a helpful tutorial, conducted by a group of colonists that (I believe) built you, the game lets go of any direct hand-holding and allows you to 'go ham' exploring what the world has to offer. You can't help but 'get lost', and the gameplay encourages this. Traversing these biomes, you begin to see that this once seen baron planet, is anything but, and through the requests of the colonists that you arrived with, you begin to further your understanding of the planet. There are 'quests' in which there is some story progress; such as through the development of the colony, but its clear these are being fleshed out and added to. The results of these quests hint that some sizeable updates are planned for the future, meaning that the developers are very much active in this game for the long-haul. Some cus…

I've been following this game since I first played the Demo.. even dropped a suggestion on their TIktok for one of the crew hats (which sadly I haven't found yet. I look forward to when I do!), so it was great to finally experience it properly. It's still just as charming as ever, I love all the crew members and finding new things in the world is always exciting. As everything is still early access, the story isn't finished yet, but what I have experience has me eagerly awaiting the next big update. Colour me intrigued! I hope more people play this once 1.0 drops. I know some people prefer to avoid Early Access til the full release, and this game deserves more love than it currently has.

Played this ages ago back at WASD and WOW What a change, the devs did an incredible job. Such an epic cozy game and the music is top notch. Would hugely recommend, perfect if you just want to have a nice drive around weird planet to take pictures and explore. Love the creatures too!

Cute and cosy. Would love a map and a way to delete photos that have been taken, but maybe I haven't progressed to that bit yet.

A laid-back, cosy game about exploring and documenting the features of an alien planet. The whole world is brimming with personality, especially the NPC astronauts who research with you. Even in early access there's plenty to explore and discover, from strange geology to alien life. Although some areas have quite harsh colours in my opinion, the stylised 'chibi' art style very appealing overall. The game at times looks more like a drawing from a comic book or graphic novel than a video game (In a good way). The camera system is simple but effective, and with some effort can be used to take fun photos. I would love to see this system expanded so you can take more interesting shots by changing the aperture or exposure of the camera, but I understand that this probably won't be added. The movement is fairly intuitive and responsive. However, it can sometimes be difficult to turn in tight spaces. I would appreciate the ability to swivel in place. When you have room to move, the movement is smooth and fast. Nothing beats picking up some speed and flying off a ramp like a stunt rider. There is a crew customisation system which allows you to personalise your astronaut buddies with a va…
