Scrapland Remastered

I have an obsession with the video games released between the years 2000 and 2006. Nostalgia is definitely a big factor that influences my perception of it, but I do believe that it had something that no other generation did either before or after: it was a perfect middle-ground between raw performance power and project scope. Unlike what came before it, the hardware was strong enough that a team could reasonably implement their ideas with few restrictions, allowing them to give flesh to all (or at the very least most) of their ideas. I’ve been looking for this game for a long time... I remembered it from my childhood, but I didn’t know what it was called. Finally, I found it—even in a remastered version and I highly recommend it for a touch of pure nostalgia.

[h1]Summary[/h1] Definitely not ideal, but it's worth playing. Some stuff, like the world design, the robotic setting, the progression, and the gameplay in general are solid. Treat the story as secondary, and you’ll have a great time in Scrapland. I first played this game as a child. Now I’ve revisited it with a different, experienced perspective, trying to evaluate how I feel about its various aspects. [h1]World[/h1] I'm actually surprised, but the developers managed to create a futuristic world with diverse locations, both "indoors" and "outdoors". Unfortunately, there's not much to do outside apart from racing and fighting, but I assume they just didn't have enough time or budget. The potential is huge, though. One of the most important aspects is that you don’t feel lonely. Instead, you feel like part of a functioning system. Everywhere you fly, you see someone fighting the police, or destroying cargo ships. If you're inside a building, you can see robots talking to or interacting with each other. The best part is that you can actually see how everyone utilizes their abilities. If a cop asks a functionary for his money, the functionary might slow down time to escape. …

A solid remaster to an old gem. The game is still fun to play to this day.

Finally got around to finishing this one since I remembered it fondly from childhood but never actually beat it. Very solid artistically. Environments, characters, ships, effects, and animations are all very well designed in a unique and charming way. Great music and sound design! Voice acting is a mixed bag, but more often amusing than poor. Writing mostly nails the Teen-rated tone with mild language and references and doesn't take itself too seriously. Ship customization is varied enough and both combat and races are fairly fun. Story is decent, with some fun surprises (especially towards the end) and an overall solid premise. My main problem with this game comes down to just how repetitive it is. Most tasks are either ship combat, ship racing, or on-foot exploration and interaction. Some variety in specific quest moments and crazy bets, but mostly just swapping between the main gameplay loops over and over again for hours. Some challenges themselves are far too repetitive, with more than a few asking for literally dozens of points, kills, or collectibles when they should have 3-5 at the most. Game won't run properly. Skips cutscenes and then when playing the game it will cut over to an hourglass screen that does not go away. You can still hear sound but you can't do anything and I waited several minutes to see if it would respond. I tried adjusting graphics settings CRTL ` to adjust the frame rate adjust the cfg file. nothing works. I buy a game I expect it to at least run. I assume it is trying to load or something. After trying several different things offered by the community hub none of it fixed the issue. Stay away until someone posts a fix!! An actual fix.
