About Seal of Evil
The Seal of Evil story is set in the twilight years of the Warring States period of Chinese history (476 ? 206 BC). This turbulent time marks the disintegration of the longest lived of all imperial dynasties, the Zhou. Out of the strife and chaos emerges a nobleman possessed of an indomitable spirit and an uncompromising vision of the future: Ying Zheng, ruler of the Qin state. He will stop at nothing to reunite the disparate Chinese kingdoms. Combining ancient legends and mythic storytelling with historical fact, Seal of Evil sets the stage for an epic adventure wherein the players struggle to thwart the Qin invasion of their peaceful homeland, East Baiyue. Ferocious beasts, merciless enemy soldiers, wicked bandits, and terrifying supernatural foes are hazards they must face in order to achieve this goal. There is still hope for them, however, for along the way they will also make many friends and acquire powerful weapons and equipment. And armed with mighty elemental magic, they may yet come face to face with the very Gods themselves.

I loved this game 20 years ago, didn't even realize it was on steam and on sale for $2! I purchased immediately and as it downloaded I read all the reviews stating issues with the game which had me worried I wasn't going to be playing it after all but amazingly it works with absolutely no issues :)3 found this helpful
This one was a bit of a disappointment for me. I remember having fond feelings of the first game, but absolutely unforgivably bad tech issues. This game hasn't crashed once for me... yet... I'm not enjoying it. (And according to other reviews, it's probably as crashy as the original and I'm just lucky) I described the first as Chinese Balders gate crossed with Diablo. This version kindof reverses that formula. Where I felt like I was exploring the world and fighting some in the original... I feel that I'm fighting lots of mobs and rarely RPG'ing here. It may just be a really slow start... but dang... it's a SLOOOW start. In Seal of Evil, you take on the role of the Chieftain for Baiyue village. The Qin empire is attempting to claim ownership of the land and they're diplomacy turns a little less diplomatic. This adventure has you fighting through fantasy china to save your village. Gameplay is a real-time with pause system and techically works. But the game tends to both use enemy spam from diablo and tankier enemies found in more traditional RPGs. This means that I spend alot of time just clearing out a few enemies, waiting for natural regen, clearing a few more, and loopi…1 found this helpful
Seal of Evil is a fantasy action RPG that merges Chinese mythology, historical conflict, martial arts, and supernatural storytelling into a large-scale adventure set during the chaotic final years of the Zhou dynasty. Originally released in the early 2000s before arriving on modern platforms years later, the game stands out because of its strong cultural identity and willingness to blend real historical tensions with folklore, magic, and mythical creatures. Instead of relying on traditional Western fantasy tropes, the game builds its world around ancient Chinese legends, political warfare, spiritual corruption, and elemental powers, creating a setting that feels both unique and atmospheric. The story takes place during the rise of Qin ruler Ying Zheng and the violent campaigns that eventually led to the unification of China. Players become involved in the conflict from the perspective of the East Baiyue region, a peaceful land threatened by invasion and supernatural chaos. What initially appears to be a historical war story gradually transforms into something much larger as dark magic, ancient relics, and mythological monsters begin emerging alongside the political violence.
