I can't recommend this game for one simple reason, the subtitles. The subtitles are way too fast. Unless you're a native english speaker that reads fast then you won't be able to complete to read the lines until new one comes. There's no settings in the game to fix it either. Due to that, the game is unplayable since you'll have no idea what decision to make and why you're making it in the first place. I asked for a refund.2 found this helpful

this game is so well produced! i bought this after playing road to empress, and i was very happy to find this game! the storyline tree is so complex, and there are so many different ways for your decisions to play out. i like that not every decision is life or death, and it could simply just impact later scenes. it feels more realistic that way. my only complaint is that the english translations only apply to the spoken script. any of the text scenes are not translated at all, so unless you want to spend a LOT of extra time using google translate, you'll end up just glazing past those scenes without really understanding the implications. i hope they can work on that in the future, because the game is really perfect in all other aspects!2 found this helpful

I first randomly downloaded, played and enjoyed Vanity Fair The Pursuit (VFTP), in whose comment section I saw a lot of recommendation of the Mandate Of Heaven, so I decided to try it. Not to my disappointment, Mandate Of Heaven is at another level than the VFTP. It is a fuller story, and there are more actionable options. I enjoy stories more than actions in games, so this game fits me very well. The story and the characters are fictitious, but with a lot of borrowing from real Chinese historical background. The dresses are well designed and pretty, the settings are nice, and the actresses are all very beautiful. The camera often gives a first person view to give the player (more like an audience) an immersive experience. The plot is touching at many occasions, and the game producer intentionally let players try different decisions at different points to see different outcomes. Though it's all made up, it still gives the player a strong realization that you cannot demand everything in life: each choice has its own cost, including all the right ones.
还有不少可以进步的地方，但能讲述完登基以后的剧情就已经比大多互动电影好了
