before you see anything whatsoever in the game, the publisher, the developer, the game title, the main menu, an intro cutscene, any other credits or anything whatsoever we are met with an intrusive EPIC online services popup completely obscuring the game and any and everything previously mentioned, auto-generating an account for me, probably linked to my steam? asking for data and other stuff? get f'd remove that stain on your game where the entirety of it bows down to epic as the first thing the player should see and be met with its disgusting positive review upon completion2 found this helpful
Fun game that does a really good job at combing platformer fighters and beat em ups, great just absouelt fantastic art style and direction. The chacretrs are fun and varried although i think the first two are the best. The story feels like something out of a saturday morning cartoon and at some point i just strated skipping cutscenes. The game has some issues the gear feels pretty insubstantial, leveling takes a while and each indivduail skill doesnt feel like it adds much besides the health and stamina upgrades and the ultimate moves are just bigger versions of your specail moves but they dont feel like they do tons more damage for the faster characters. There's an odd diffculty curve where i crush the first are no probelm but then a bunch of the second world I couldn't get more than silver, than on the first few lvels on the thirdworld i got gold then shot down to having trouble again. The biggest issue however is the game isn't all that fast. It's rather medium speed and there no real way to speed it up from what I played.
Just generally not a good game. Bad balance.
Great presentation, soundtrack, character designs. All of that is top notch and drew me in. But a "fast" game, confining you to small arenas? It does not feel like you are speedy if you stay on the same screen for an entire fight. Maybe i just expected something more akin to pizza tower, that game is FAST. Moreover, the enemies are not proactive enough. I admittedly only played through the 1st "world" and the 1st stage of the second "world" but i rarely had reason to use the parry/counter, as i would have to *wait* for enemies to attack: to *wait* in a "fast game" is not good. Only exception being the boss of the area. That might change in the later stages but the first hour of gameplay just was not interesting or fast enough. The game is also bogged down with systems like loot or skilltrees. Having to go through 3 (equipment, skill and market) menus and then additional dialogue, just to get to a stage after engaging with those systems (because why wouldnt you level up your character in a game) just sloooows the game doooown. The characters having itemisation also feels wrong for a speedrunning game. Speedrunning, and fighting games often as well, is about skill, reactionspee…
meh
I got this in a bundle. Much like most of the games in the bundle, I'm not happy that I don't like this game. Positives: -Art Style is good. Granted, I don't like how the brute characters look like blocks while the speed characters look like people. -Combat is actually fun on a mechanical level. I actually WANT to get high combos, which doesn't usually happen for me. Negatives: -Speed is not implemented well. The game wants you to dash all over the place, but you still take damage and can flinch mid-dash. I know there's a designated dodge button, but it's too slow and doesn't go far enough for some attacks. -Levels are, personally, terrible. I would have preferred keeping the Speed and Brawl separate, at least in terms of ranking. Maybe have the normal brawl levels give ranking based on how high your combo is, or a score that's based on your time and combo. Pole races tend to be bull as well. I have played the same pole/target stage multiple times and still can't decipher what the developers' optimal path was. -Items and in-game economy are stupid. The amount of money you get from playing stages, even when getting gold ranks, is not enough for the items that are RARELY better …
