About Spires of Morosith: Gossamer Sundered
- The Grainwraiths ripping into Arborglen through Tears. They want to destroy the Spires creating the Gossamer, then won’t stop until all of Arborglen is consumed.
- There is a variety of Grainwraith characters, from the small and many Scouts to the rare and horrifying Abhorration.
- Enemies may spawn as a special type. For example, the Mammoths who draw towers’ ire protecting the smaller Grainwraith beside it. Or the Trojan that on death will create a small Tear, spawning more enemies.
- The boss wave encounters will stress your strategies and take advantage of defensive weaknesses.
- Conjure from an arsenal of 5 towers, each serves a unique function for defeating the invading Grainwraiths.
- Towers have one or two upgrade paths that build upon what makes each tower unique, sometimes adding additional effects like burning, vulnerability, or reduced move speed.
- Summoning Towers influences the route the Grainwraiths will use to reach the Spires.
- Improve resource generation and harvesting rates with buildings.
- Buildings wont deal damage to the Grainwraiths but are as important as towers in keeping Arborglen and its Spires protected.
- Buildings influence the Grainwraith routes, and have larger footprints (2x2) than towers (1x1).
- Active Spires form the Gossamer that keeps the Grainwraiths from invading Arborglen. They’ve been disabled, and now the Grainwraiths seek to destroy them.
- Protecting the Spires is priority one. When a Grainwraith reaches a Spire it will cause significant damage.
- Success takes more than survival. Arborglen’s Spires need to be reactivated to heal the Gossamer and keep Grainwraiths from invading through Tears.
- Once enough Grainwraith Cores have been collected by Obelisks, they may power a nearby Spire. Defeat the Grainwraith within the Obelisk’s area to collect its Core!
- The Gatherers can be commanded to collect resources from the map. Gather wisely, resources are removed from the map once collected!
- Removing resources creates more space for towers but may also open new routes for Grainwraiths to access the Spires!
- Gatherers may also discover Ancient Knowledge in the forests of Arborglen, adding new Towers and Buildings to your arsenal!
- Each of the three regions within Arborglen present opportunity to expand your defensive strategies.
- How will defenses fit in the dense forests? Or control portal connections and limited pathing options of the floating islands? Is there enough time to cut through the deadroot to access the Heartwood Trees?
- Be cautious when building near the wildlife in the regions, they may try to protect their space!
- Each successful wave generates a report, letting you know how many of the Cores you claimed and any Spire damage that wave.
- The resources generated per minute, and the wave difficulty stats may be found by hovering over the Wood Bank and Wave displays.
- While paused, you’re given access to construct blueprints that will temporarily update the Grainwraith path. Helpful for planning intricate maze designs.
- When feeling prepared, take on the Endless Mode to see how long the Spire stands against an relentless Grainwraith spawn.

Players praise this tower defense game for its clever fusion of maze-building strategy and resource management inspired by Warcraft 3 custom maps, with particular appreciation for the unique mechanic of routing enemies through energy-gathering zones and engaging boss fights. However, many report significant balancing issues that make the game punishingly difficult, especially in early stages where resource constraints feel overly restrictive, and several mention needing multiple attempts per level to progress, which may frustrate players new to the genre.
---see where this game landed on my tower defense tier list beneath this rec!--- I went in not expecting much given its obscurity, but this is a surprisingly fun mazer. It's basically another ‘TD that would be decent as a set of Warcraft 3 custom maps’. Warcraft 3 is clearly an influence, with the way you have a couple of workers that you set to chop wood (wood buys towers, killing monsters doesn’t earn gold). There are many trees on most maps and because this is a mazer, determining which ones to chop down can be an integril part of the strategy. As well as managing this, there’s two small regions on most of your maps where you need to kill 250 enemies in each: doing this wins the stage. Deciding how to connect these two areas to one another and maze them plays a big part in your success or failure. Further complicating that, there can be multiple enemy spawner locations and some levels also have teleporters that the enemies can reach to move to different parts of the map. There's also buildings you'll want to buy that provide benefits, and deciding when to purchase these instead of building another tower can be a weighty decision to make as well. All of these thin…3 found this helpful
I know I haven't spent a ton of time in game, but in terms of a modern, clean and easy to understand tower defense game, this delivers on every front. The strategic placement of towers to make sure you route enemies into an energy gathering zone is unique (to me!) and keeps it engaging when things start to escalate. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a fresh take on the tower defense genre.1 found this helpful
Having played from the prototype stages to the current demo, I can say that the game has changed so much in such a short amount of time -- all for the better. I love the map level selection menu, the snowglobe is super cool, which was completely absent last time I played. The core of the game is a cute but sometimes infuriating (for my lack of skill) tower defense game that blends some RTS elements. I especially enjoy the cool boss fights. There's definite skill expression in the path-building side of the game. It's one of those things where when you fail you can only think to blame yourself. I got to get good to beat it1 found this helpful
Spires of Morosith: Gossamer Sundered
laning is more important than damage My name is G0disPink and I have a YouTube channel where I play and upload my first experience with a game unedited. Most of my videos are 20 to 30 minutes in length and this is my critique from my short time with the game. Similarities From

Tower Defense games
The Good

Art style
Resource collection mixed with classic tower defense
Interesting boss fights
The Bad

Difficulty can get hard if you move too fast
Each level may take a few resets to beat
Final Opinion Spires is a very fun tower defense game. Constructing strategic lanes is the key to this tower defense, make the enemies take a long windy path. Reduce your straights and crowd AoE towers. Check this game out if you like tower defense games. This is one of the better games in the genre to come out in the past year. Spires of Morosith: Gossamer Sundered suffers with balancing issues, although it's extremely fun. I wouldn't have given a negative review if the game were still in early access, but it's been out since 2025. One of the more interesting tower defenses that's actually really thought provoking and fun. You are required to create towers in between blue rectangles to acquire points. So in order for you to acquire more blue rectangles, you're required to buy a rectangle building tower or divert the path to maximize your use of the blue rectangles that you start off with. Then you have your upgrade building. If you want to upgrade your towers, you're required to buy an upgrade building. The only issue with all of this is you don't have enough money to buy regular towers to defend your castle. One of the more interesting dynamics is chopping down trees to earn money to buy towers. This concept is phenomenal. A lot of this is shown in the premiere video above. I'd like to say that the developer is phenomenal with his concept, but the balancing issue seems to have been an afterthought. I'd definitely recommend a follow for this developer as his next TD will probably correct all of the bal…
This is an interesting tower defence game. The spires to kill the monsters near and the gatherers bring something new. Having to build upgrade buildings on the map is also potentially interesting. It seems somewhat simple, but is actually incredibly difficult after a while, and I'd say gets a bit too difficult, as the early game is very restrictive. I think replayability will mostly come down to how much you want to perfect a mission, but given the challenge, just making it through might take many attempts. Would recommend to those who enjoy very difficult tower defence games of the mazing variety. If you're new to tower defence, probably not.
