"Spooky Speakeasy" is a rather weak browser/Flash tier "mixology" drink making minigame combined with a bunch of poorly written e-book text. The idea is a not uncommon one, another riff on the "restaurant/bar for monsters" theme that many amateur developers have tried and failed to succeed with (because it's really not that great of an idea). Your spooky bar is going to close down (good riddance) so you have a week to make drinks and click through cringey, badly written e-book dialogue. Or not. SteamDB shows gamers avoided this like the plague. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, bu…
This one's not bad but just off enough not to recommend. The dialogue is a bit lazy and the core gameplay loop isn't satisfying. Nice art style, though.
Loved it! Though the drink making gets a tad annoying from time to time, having to try over again so many times to get that right. Also, that drink thing is okay, that's just the game itself and I'm not the most patient person out there, but one thing that REALLY upset me was that playing the first 4 days, leaving the game, then returning to see that I have no chance but to start all over again. I really wish there was a save system in you guys' games, because I remember that there wasn't in Check It Out! either. I loved that game too but the save is a MUST. Not everyone can just sit and play until a game is done. I also wish there were an achievement system for Steam.
This is a great game with a ton of replayability! I love all of the art, the character's unique personalities, the music and the gameplay mechanics. I like that it's essentially a colour matching game, and with some drinks you have to really think about the colour theory to figure out the right ingredients. I think its cool that you can talk to a character after your shift every day, adding more of a narrative and character focus to what could have just been a bartending sim- this reminds me of games like Coffee Talk a bit! I think the tutorials are well done and make sure you understand all parts of the game. I was going through trying to see all of the dialogue from all of the different characters, but I've given up for now as it takes a while to play through the whole game so many times! There are a few very minor bugs, but I didn't encounter anything that actually inhibited my gameplay. There's one slime whose order doesn't show up, and the game wouldn't start from the beginning again after I finished unless I closed the whole game and opened it again. Nothing major! :)
In French: This game features cute art and a fun concept; however, repetitive gameplay and several bugs mar the experience. The colour matching is difficult and I don’t think it’s very user friendly in that way. It’s worth a single play through, but lacks replay value despite plenty of individual character arcs.
