「Millennium Dream」 is a solo-developed walking and photography simulator built around the core aesthetic of "Chinese Dreamcore." You will submerge yourself in meticulously crafted dreams of days gone by...Take a nap in your bed on a lazy, sun-drenched afternoon; wander through the pedestrian street with its faint, damp scent—the one you used to walk with your mother after school; or return to an empty campus, the place where you once "battled" day and night.There are no clichéd jump scares or task lists here—only those fragments of old times that were once mundane but are now nowhere to be found.

[EN] I definitely love this game, its like somebody gifted their nostalgia, their memories, in the form on a place you can navigate, meories can ger blurry, so you cannot remember when (that is why you can change the time and weather) but you cherish it, you wanna go back. Also i love how well is done the liminal aesthetic, it's my favorite game off 2026 and i will play it several times, even if the game is broken on english. Millennium Dream is contemplative, beautiful and surprising liminal game (+90s Chinese Teenager Simulator?). 'Surprising' in that one begins in a relatively realistic, yet unpopulated, space with realistic objectives (e.g. wake up in apartment, greet mom, head to friend's apartment, etc.) and then, half an hour into completing this seemingly innocuous tasks, you blip into a surreal liminal space akin to a vintage Chinese backrooms. From there - things only get better. The graphics are breathtakingly photorealistic, the translations are decent, the nostalgia is as thick as molasses, and there are enough gameplay mechanics and places to go to keep one entertained. I also appreciated the love and personal references added by the dev as it provides a lot of context as well as a basis of comparison for me, a Westerner, who grew up in a similar era on the other side of the world. Although this game does not quite fit into the traditional liminal/backrooms/poolrooms genre, fans of the genre will appreciate this experience. Some folks are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about the AI but it seems they would not have even noticed it had they not been alerted to it and thus does not effect one's gameplay u…1 found this helpful
Okay... this is a bit of an odd one. I'm giving it a positive review overall, but I will temper that with a caveat: according to the Steam store, this game has a small amount of AI-generated textures in it. At first I didn't notice that disclaimer when I bought it, and upon noticing it I was briefly torn on whether to bother giving it a shot. But in the end I thought screw it, I've paid money for this so I'm going to play it. I had a feeling I spotted the AI usages occasionally. As far as I can tell it's just a minority of instances - and whilst I tend to groan inwardly whenever I realise something has been AI-generated, in this case because it was only in a minority of instances I decided to try to be fair and balanced and judge the game as a whole when writing this review. But I could have just as easily clicked the thumbs down and moved on! However, despite the use of an AI tool or tools, Millennium Dream does have good things going for it. For the most part the visuals are fine (the odd AI-generated texture notwithstanding) and atmospheric; if you like sedate exploration games with liminal vibes, then you might enjoy this one.
