Star Rogue is a small-scale science-fiction roguelike platformer built around exploration, randomized environments, and straightforward action. Developed and published by Julian Wehrmann, the game casts the player as a space marine investigating an abandoned station that has become home to hostile robots, alien creatures, traps, and other dangers. It does not waste much time establishing an elaborate narrative. Instead, it quickly pushes the player into the station and allows its procedural structure, combat, and equipment system to carry the experience. Jump only works sometimes on the controller even after switching keybinds. After closing and relaunching, it's now glitched to the point that the sprite will barely move anytime I start a new game. It still needs work before it's in a playable state.

Star Rogue is a small sci fi roguelike platformer that puts me inside a randomly generated space station filled with traps, robots, aliens and bosses. I play as a space marine and have to work my way through different rooms while trying to stay alive long enough to reach the end. I like the basic setup because it gives me that old school arcade feeling where I can start a run quickly, make a few choices and then see how far I can get before everything falls apart. The randomised rooms are probably the best part for me. Every run changes the layout, enemies and items I have to deal with, so I cannot simply memorise one route and repeat it forever. I also get choices between different weapons, abilities and items, which gives me some control over how I build my character during a run. I like having to make those decisions because one setup can make a difficult section much easier, while another can leave me relying more on careful movement and avoiding damage. The platforming and combat work together fairly well too.
