Top down shooter with random generated maps. Not everyhting is what it seems... blast aliens, robots and other scumbags into space while listening to some dubstep music. You can choose from a few different classes and wreck havoc around the spaceship like an mlg pro looking for mtn dew and doritos. Overall plays well, tight controls, different abilities and weapons of destruction. You can dash and move swiftly as a swan. You will encounter magnets which change trajectory of your bullets, telepads and lots of different foes. Visual side is average but much customizable (mostly scaling). It's ok to play for a bit but after that remember about your favorite games in your library. Slight recommendation (don't buy unless you have to).
Starward Rogue is a fast, demanding roguelike shooter that leans unapologetically into chaos, experimentation, and player mastery. Developed and published by Arcen Games, it combines twin-stick shooting with bullet-hell intensity and procedural generation, creating an experience that is less about spectacle and more about sustained mechanical pressure. From the opening moments, it establishes itself as a game that expects constant movement, sharp awareness, and a willingness to learn through failure, rewarding persistence with a deep and flexible progression system. The premise is delightfully strange and sets the tone for the game’s creativity. You play as an alien hydra head piloting a combat mech, fighting your way upward through a massive, hostile structure embedded inside a star known as the Megalith. While the narrative is intentionally sparse and largely relegated to flavor text and background lore, it provides enough context to give purpose to the relentless climb. The focus is firmly on gameplay, with story elements serving as a backdrop rather than a driving force. Each run through Starward Rogue is procedurally generated, ensuring that no two attempts feel exactly the …

Starward Rogue is a pretty fun top down shooter. A few things stand out when compared to other similar games. There isn't a lot of emphasis on Meta progression (which isn't bad, really!) All of the robots you can pilot are unlocked right away and some items seem to be locked behind completing achievements or something, but it all feels natural. The items and mods and weapons are all pretty unique and can create some fun combos. The randomness in what you find keeps the super broken builds to a minimum but when you find the right combo you feel it. So much visual clutter! When you have a few companions, big weapons and extra projectiles and mix that with all the enemies on screen its a mess. I couldn't find any pattern or coloring that helps discern what shots are going to hurt or not so I just got into the habit of dodging everything. Overall this is a solid game for 20 hours or so.
