About State of Matter
State of Matter is a First-Person Puzzle Action Shooter utilizing a new element and its three states of matter to traverse through a derelict mining outpost in the Kuiper Belt. Armed with an experimental mining tool, you must solve puzzles and defeat enemies as you delve deeper into the facility, unlocking the mysteries of the past. Explore the Facility
Use your mining tool, the Phasm IV SLG, to fire matter in its 3 different states to solve puzzles to traverse the environment. Whether you use high temperature gas to melt ice in your way, solid crystals to create platforms in the environment, or any other combination, you'll have to work with the interplay between the states of matter to make your way through.Fight the Robots
The facility is still full of mining robots, all in self-defense mode trying to keep anyone they see out. Each state affects the enemies in a different way - you'll have to experiment to find the best way to keep yourself safe. Discover the Truth
While working your way to the core of the facility, explore your environment to find out the truth about what happened to the scientists. Was it an accident, or something more sinister? What Steam players say

Very cool game, love the mechanic, super unique, allows for lots of creativity with the platforming and combat and was fun exploring with the audio logs. OST is good menu music great. Highly recommend a nice adventure. Had lots of fun :D4 found this helpful
Really fun first person puzzle game. The mechanics of the SLG are totally unique and well used throughout the game. The levels are not overly complicated, yet sufficiently challenging to be rewarding when completed. If you take the time to find the audio logs (do it) you'll see that there's a pretty good backstory to go along with the game. And I simply have to call out the soundtrack - it's phenomenal, and it perfectly fits the space mystery theme of the game. The game may not be huge, but there's certainly enough content that for only a couple dollars it's absolutely worth it to pick it up and play through.4 found this helpful
It's a good game. You can tell a lot of hard work went into this, and it really shows. If you're thinking about getting it, just do it. You won't regret it.3 found this helpful
Fun game with good puzzles and platforming.3 found this helpful
This is a great indie game! It's a short, tight indie that takes clear inspiration from the Metroid series but leans more into puzzle solving. Music is great. I highly recommend collecting the Audio Clips as they fill out the world a lot. Unlike in some Metroidvania's, the upgrades build on each other and interact which I thought was clever, and made it so that you still had a reason to use even the one's you get early & midgame in the end game. The scope of the game is small, but for the price and for a first-time game from a small team, this was a real gem!2 found this helpful
