About Droplet: States of Matter

Droplet: States of Matter is a 3D platforming action adventure game inspired by the old school classics of yesteryear. Find yourself in the colorful, cartoonish Periodic Table Universe where elements, compounds and other scientific phenomena are personified! Play as Droplet and his sister Molly-QL, a duo that can change between the four states of matter. At the Galactic Science Festival, the famous scientist Professor Humphry Heisenberg Otto invents a weather machine to help better the lives of the peaceful people of planet Eich-Tuo. However, his old, vengeful colleague Dr. Ruby Dium returns, claiming that the professor stole her research. Things only get worse when she invites the nefarious Lord Krypton to seize control of the weather machine. With the entirety of Eich-Tuo’s climate now at risk, Droplet and Molly-QL must take it upon themselves to save the galaxy!
  • Water form is your default state of matter with well-balanced stats and the ability to swim underwater.
  • Ice form can freeze the surface of liquids to walk across.
  • Cloud form can leap great distances and walk on top of clouds.
  • Plasma form can activate switches that reveal hidden paths made of hardlight.

  • Explore 30+ levels across seven star systems. The Noble Gas Kingdom has lots of secrets to find and enemies to defeat.
  • Face off against 7+ bosses. Use your states of matter to punch, kick and shoot them!
  • Navigate seamlessly between first and third person views. You can even freely move in the first person view to play the game like a first person shooter!
  • Switch between playing as Droplet and Molly-QL. They are identical in moveset but have their own pools of health and ammo. Pick your favorite or use them both!

  • Obtain quantum crystals to explore other worlds. Find them at the end of levels, off the beaten path, by completing time trials or by gathering 95% of atoms in a level.
  • Collect atoms to exchange for ability upgrades. This can be anything from increased health to an increased amount of time staying in one state of matter.
  • Find the twelve lost artifacts. If you have the cunning to seek them out, you can turn them in to Dr. Form Al DeHyde for a hefty reward of atoms.
  • Meet a large cast of colorful characters inspired by scientific puns. From the likes of the dastardly pirate Captain Salty Peter to the grouchy middle manager Sill E. Con!
  • Watch out for 100+ unique enemies! Some of them are immune to certain states of matter so you’ll have to keep on your toes to figure out how to take them on!
  • Witness cinematic voice acted cutscenes. They are fully animated with lip syncing!
  • Listen to nearly three hours of original music. Additionally, the title screen is a full-on music video for the song “Through the Water Cycle”, featuring lyrics synthesized with Vocaloid!
Do you have what it takes to save planet Eich-Tuo? Then let Droplet and Molly-QL take you for a ride through the water cycle!

An actually solid platformer with great controls and level design, and interesting game levers of interaction. Feels like playing Spyro & Banjo Kazooie & Rayman all at once.

A bit rough around the edges, but a charming, very clever platformer with a lot of appeal. It may look a little odd at first, but once you're past the first few levels and the slightly odd look it has, the game becomes a pretty interesting platformer with a fair bit of puzzles and a lot of passion behind every aspect of it. The dialogue is especially very cheesy, you'll probably love it or at least find it amusing in how silly it can be.

Genuinely the most fun I've had playing a game in quite some time! Droplet feels familiar and friendly, evoking that nostalgia of N64 platformers while bringing a lot of personality to the table. It seems this was a solo project, which is really impressive considering the amount of playtime and how well-crafted the world is. There's such a colorful collection of levels that interact in different ways with the central mechanic of shifting between different states of matter. It's a solid (pun intended) core concept and seeing it evolve over my playthrough was a lot of fun. One thing I want to remark on is full completion. 100% in this game is challenging, but rewarding. I found I was pushed to really refine my understanding of the mechanics and levels to get there. In the end that challenge was probably my favorite part of the experience and made me appreciate it that much more. Kudos to the developer for all the work put into this. Excited to see what the future holds!

Very fun, charming 3D platformer that seems to have sadly flown under the radar. I'm about a third of the way through, completing every level 100% as I go, and the game has so far been great and full of content. I've fully completed the first three worlds, and levels keep introducing new mechanics and new twists on the old mechanics. Very full-featured, charming retro-styled graphics, good music, and engaging level design with challenging time trials. Well worth the small asking price.
