Morphite

I'm only two hours into this game, but it's currently scratching the "No Man's Sky" itch better than No Man's Sky in some ways - mostly by virtue of having a narrative and non-random upgrades. It's very much a low-polygon game, and lacks NMS' impressive space-to-surface mechanics (and most of the other features, like base-building and your own customisable vehicles), but its gameplay loop is actually more satisfying. Also, it's a fraction of the size on disk.

This is a vibe. It's an audiovisual vibe disguised as an unpolished NMS-alike. Great game to put on while talking with friends on Discord about something completely unrelated. Good to detox after work. It slices, it dices, it treats the symptoms of suburban depression!

First time walkthrough took place during 2018 on iPhone 6s, now 8 years later I finished it on Steam Deck. Beautiful planets, and enemies and gameplay elements. Main event is looking for minerals, scanning plants/minerals/equipment on a Ships and selling, upgrading weapons/ship/suit. Noting too complicated, but time consumption is real. As for glitches. When I acquired an automatic rifle, when I pick it, I couldn’t select another weapons/equipment, and other one – two times when I was making a purchase I was pushed in some room with NPC inside ship, exit to main menu and rejoining fixed it. I finally found for what is this hole in the walls on a planet, after final mission you get Morphite transformation options – so you can go in them and find something. Potentially pretty nifty, but seemingly abandoned in a barely playable state. In desperate need of some polish, thorough play testing, and rebalancing.

I REALLY hope the developer is reading these reviews because I want to let it be known, I think I HAVE FOUND IT!!! Is the game perfect? No. Does it open the doorway for something that could change history? OH YES!!! The Metroid Prime Clone! Listen, I like the game. I am going to play more of it. I really hope this turns, dare I say, a Metroid killer. I wish the best of luck! I can't wait to continue playing it.

a quirky little adventure, I am slowly growing to appreciate such simple yet complex storytelling all in wonderful low poly goodness.
