Syndrome VR

[h1]Experienced on the Oculus Rift. VR Review Only. [/h1] I honestly don't know why they made a separate title called Syndrome VR, where they just should have just made it a free DLC for the main game. In any event, if you own Syndrome, then you got this other version which includes the VR survival mode for free. I think I got this game in a bundle. Anyways, I don't recommend this VR experience. The VR port mini-game survival mode feels like a demo from 2016. You don't even use your motion controllers as anything other than a gamepad. You do have full locomotion and snap turning on by default, but you can change it in the options to smooth turning (classic). You aim with your head basically, whether you use your motion controllers, a gamepad, or keyboard & mouse. Your aim reticle is always at the center of your screen. You start the game outside of VR, you have to click VR from the desktop screen to actually start the VR survival mode. The visuals look nice, especially for a game from 2017. Not many games look good in the dark, but this one has a good use of lighting and the game ran smoothly for me. The soundwork is also pretty good. However, the gameplay itself is pretty bad.…

I got this game for free since I had the non VR Syndrome and I was semi-Disappointed. I thought the full game was put in VR and not just a VR survival mode (Which was still Pretty good). The base campaign was Interesting, didn't get to far but from what I played, it was fun. 5/10

1/10 Firstly, this is not even remotely supporting VR. It doesn't even support VorpX!!! I can only assume that the developers have listed it as supporting VR so that they can get more sales. Secondly. I have an ultra-modern rig, but this game only supports one resolution: 1024 x 768!!!! Yes, you read that correctly, and no, this really is 2019. As a consequence of this the mouse is unforgiveably sensitive, even at lowest settings. In 2d pancake, that means that VorpX doesn't function well at all with its simulation. No thought was put into this at all. Therefore, don't buy it.

It's just hilarious how bad this game is. Even though it looks pretty good it runs like a rusty, broken machine. There is no way to tell if your attacks are rendered on the enemy, you just smack each other in the face until one of you dies. The control scheme is a mess and you can't change it. A helpful unintended feature to the game that might help: going forward + sideways in a direction will allow you to move quicker, this probably came to function due to bad programming but it makes an awful game just a little less awful. The price is also a joke, game's worth $5 at best, full price, but even then I suggest you bought it on sale, if not at all. Overall, this game just feels like an unfinished student project that tried to make something he didn't care much about.

Big Waste of 29 Bucks. Pain to get it working and then, Gameplay seems clunky, Dead before you can get any weapons, Ammo etc. Tracking, Hitboxes all not accurate.

At first i have to say, the atmosphere works very well. It has a certain deadspace vibe to it when you start and this obviously works very well with VR. But then the problems start. Firstly, the game does not start in VR, you have to start VR mode from the normal game menu which is awkward. Then i had problems starting the game, as it didn't get the head position of my headset right, meaning: i was sometimes very high up and sometimes very low to the flow. I'm also not a big fan of the control scheme and there was some input lag on certain actions like firing guns. But these are technical issues and they can be fixed i imagine. But what can not be fixed so easily, is that this mode feels very tacked on. It's a simple survival mode with not much to do. I personaly would not recomend the VR mode of this game.
