No one can be seen around, but you soon start to find the bodies of your dead crewmen.
The ship is adrift, and whoever – or whatever – killed your crewmates is probably still around.
Syndrome is a sci-fi survival horror game that takes place aboard the "Valkenburg", an exploration and science ship equipped with the most advanced systems in the Novacore fleet.
You need to find out what happened to your crewmen and do whatever you can to survive this nightmare.
The enemies are powerful and numerous, which means that stealth and evasion are often the best strategy.
You'll find weapons aboard the ship, but ammo is scarce and should be wisely spent.

● Claustrophobic horror: The action takes place inside a spaceship. There are countless horrors inside, both physical and psychological.
● Fight or hide: There are weapons on the ship, but not enough ammo to take everyone out. Use them wisely.
● Engaging storyline: Nothing is what it seems. Something very bad happened aboard the ship, and it’s up to you to find out what’s really going on.
● Reactive enemies: They’ll follow noises and investigate any disturbances.
● Interactive scenario: There’s plenty of exploration to do inside the ship, and many things to discover.

Players criticize the game's high price point relative to its quality, citing excessive backtracking through dark levels, limited save options that force replay of large sections, and inconsistent controls alongside inventory bugs that cause weapon loss. However, some appreciate the creepy spaceship atmosphere, solid sound design, challenging ammo management mechanics, and compelling story, though they acknowledge the dated graphics and clunky execution throughout.
This game is way to expensive at this review time. 20€ is way too much for what this game is. This game is an amateurish, low-budget, simplistic go fetch kind of gameplay, with a ton of backtracking on the same pitch black levels (way worse than Doom 3 or Fear 1). It also has a very barebone save system, there are no checkpoints or save anywhere, only on certain special machines kinda similar to Resident Evil. So that means when you die, you will sometimes need to replay a large portion of the IMO boring gameplay. Then there's the fact the player's view feels very strange, you feel like you are a midget, everything around you feels badly scaled. The player mouse and keyboard control is also very inconsistent for some interactions; you need to press E, for others, F and at other times, the first mouse button. With all respect, it feels like a second year game development students' game. At the current price, I cannot recommend it.1 found this helpful

It's not recent, the graphics aren't that special and the enemies sometimes are a bit clunky. That said, it also has an amazing environment, a cool story and some cheesy-good moments. And it's also hard and you'll need to stock up on ammo.
The game is a bit rough around the edges, but it does some things well, like setting up the stage in a creepy ship right from the start. The rule with survival horrors is always to conserve ammo, but here that rule is especially true. If you don't keep some ammo for the later enemies, you'll be in a lot of trouble.
A lighter and indier version of Dead Space. Monsters are varied enough, levels not so much. Cool story.
