About The Blind Of The New World

This game is a story-centered visual novel equal in length to a paperback novel.

Synopsis:

In the near future with the invention and adoption of the Electron Corneas, augmented reality is now the only reality humanity knows.
But for Seejay, 'the blindness' has stripped him of his ability to exist in this new reality and has cut him off from the rest of the world.
One day, as he is walking through this bustling city of monotony, moving through the crowds of people all dressed exactly the same...
Something actually stands out—a girl dressed in a traditional school uniform from ages past…

Become one of the blind as you live through this story with our protagonist and his classical-minded heroine.

Game features:

1) Updated and reworked for the Unity engine, this port of the 2017 mobile hit was met with praise throughout Korea for its romantic story and dystopian sci-fi themes.

2) Written by the award-winning visual novel author Kil-ke (Winner of the Novel Engine free topic story award)

3) An emotional story and a rich soundtrack (6+ hours playtime, 100k word count): Your choices lead you to one of four endings. As such, there is no "gameplay" in the normal sense of the word.

4) Both female leads are fully-voiced by professional Korean voice actors (Mi Jang & Yoomi Jeong)

I really like this VN for the most part, I think it has amazing world-building (I'm obsessed with the futuristic/cyber aesthetic lol) and a well-written and emotional story! The game does a great job at creating a fitting atmosphere, especially when showing contrast of how the protagonist sees the world compared to everyone else. I also liked the different endings and the characters (though I wish that there were more plot-relevant characters besides the main three, since it would be interesting to see more interactions with people who don't know about protagonist's condition). The art, music and UI are all amazing too!

The Blind of the New World is a Korean VN touching on a number of things, disability being a prominent one. With the story set in a future where augmented reality and holograms are the norm, and people are born with an artificial cornea in order to live in this new world, the meaning of the word “blind” no longer refers to those without sight. Rather, those who still live in the world behind the illusion, unable to see what every other person around them sees and have the same experience. I found it to be an interesting way to make the reader think on how our world feels from the perspective of someone with a disability. There’s also a romance featured prominently. Our main character Seejay, lifelessly moving through existence as one of the blind encounters Chohyun- unlike the other people he sees dressed identically in hologram suits, she appears as a beautiful sight completely out of place, visually striking in a way nothing else in his world is. She, meanwhile, is fascinated by a painting she encountered one day depicting the world of the blind. How will their relationship grow and what effects will they have on each other? Why do they have a sense of déjà vu when they spend…

A beautifully crafted love letter to the arts. In a world where anything and everything to do with art can be replicated by AI, not everyone understands why artists continue to create. However, this visual novel explained the answer to that question better than I, or most other people ever could. It does a deep dive not only into why people stumble across creative inspiration, but also how no matter how advanced our society becomes, humanity will always feel an innate impulse to create; to share their emotions and desires with those around us. It also explores things like depression and how they can effect the day to day life of someone effected with it (Its just a theory on my part but I believe that the "blindness" as seen in game is a metaphor for real-world struggles with mental illness.) As you play though this game and experience the deeply felt, and beautifully humane dialogue, I hope you'll keep these two quotes in mind. "The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance." (-Aristotle) and, “All art should inspire and evoke emotion. Art should be something you can actually feel.” (- Chris DeRubeis). I feel th…

A story exploring edge cases of truth, perception, and disability. A strange concept, and a strange title, but the execution is excellent.

The Blind Of The New World is a short but well written novel centered around an idea that being blind does not only mean being unable to see, but being unable to see the same things everyone else does. Through this main concept you get to read how the characters get to know each other and gradually grow as people. I really enjoyed how this novel's story played out, and its concept was a really fun one. I totally recommend buying and reading this Taleshop novel just like the rest of their works.
