Players praise this indie RPG for its engaging story, charming characters, and well-balanced gameplay that rewards both exploration and combat without excessive grinding. However, the main criticism is the lack of clear direction and online guidance, forcing players to figure out their own path forward even though most find the experience ultimately rewarding.
It's a good rpg. It kept my interest, even though, many times, I had no idea what to do next. There's absolutely no online help for this game. The achievements are actually easy, as long as you are able to find the path forward.1 found this helpful
A fun little RPG maker title with some meat on its bones! There's a lot of things that I enjoyed about this game, first of all you get a "camp" area sort of like Dragon Age Origins where you can talk to the NPCs that you recruit to your base that can then trade you items, give you sidequests, give you rewards, etc. which was pretty cool. I also enjoyed that the map seemed pretty expansive without ever falling into the pitfall of other titles making the dungeons too convoluted and mazelike, I think all the areas had a fair level of difficulty and I was able to push on without being frustrated. I finished the game in about 14 hours and completed most of the optional side content, there's plenty of fun flavor dialogue from the various NPCs across the landscape and plenty of little nooks and crannies to look for items and equipment, which is pretty bountiful, I liked that I really felt like my characters were getting stronger in a good appreciable way, helped by the game rewarding you with exploring and finishing quests with permanent stat boosting items. The combat system is relatively deep and varied for this kind of title, and beyond serviceable and into the territory of fun where …1 found this helpful
Reminds me of a game called Luminous Arc, used to play it on my Nintendo DS growing up - glad I finally found a similar game on here.1 found this helpful
Very cute indie turn-based RPG fighter. There is an incredible balance within the game where fighting and exploring are well-rewarded, yet the game does not require mass grinding in order to make progress. The soundtrack gets stuck in my head even years removed from playing the game.1 found this helpful
The Deal, developed by Orfeas Game Studio and published by Aldorlea Games, is a story-driven indie RPG that channels the spirit of classic 16-bit role-playing adventures while weaving in light strategic elements and a generous amount of optional content. Set in the continent of Carca, the game follows four young protagonists—Cyrus, Myrella, Jonathan, and Donna—whose seemingly ordinary lives are disrupted by the discovery of a mysterious artifact. What begins as curiosity quickly unfolds into a broader journey filled with hidden motives, looming threats, and revelations that gradually reshape their understanding of the world around them. The narrative is one of the game’s strongest pillars. Dialogue balances humor and seriousness, giving each party member a distinct voice and personality. The camaraderie between characters develops steadily as the plot progresses, and while the overarching premise revolves around a central mystery, the journey itself is enriched by the smaller interactions along the way. Towns are populated with eccentric NPCs, side stories, and optional quests that flesh out the setting beyond the main objective. These side quests—numbering over twenty—range from …
It's been a while since I played a game published by Aldorlea Games. They have a bad habit of putting out games that look nice but lack substance and polish. There are a few exceptions... and this is one of them! While this game takes me back to early 2010s, when RPGMaker was starting to become a big thing, and new indie developers were starting to realize that their games could make money, it feels like it goes a step above that. There is a distinct lack of "finish" on this game, but it is almost endearing rather than detrimental. There is a lot to do, but the world is compact, so backtracking does not feel punishing. The story isn't entirely spoon fed to you, and many of the story's finer points are told through exploration. The overall feel DOES fall into the freeware RPGMaker games you can find a lot of places. The music and over assets all come from the standard RPGMaker asset bundles. However, the developer makes the most of the limited tools they have available. I will admit that the music gets... irritating after a while. There about 10 total songs that are used, and half of them are used several different times, just at a different tempo. Some come off alright,…
