✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this old-school dungeon crawler for its exploration-focused design, substantial replayability through character variety and difficulty options, and charming storytelling, though some find the combat unengaging even on easier settings. Common criticisms include repetitive gameplay, occasional unclear progression with hidden doors, and a lack of side quests that some feel limits engagement beyond the main dungeon-clearing objectives.

The King's Heroes is a traditional fantasy RPG developed and published by Aldorlea Games that proudly wears its retro influences on its sleeve. Built for players who grew up with classic role-playing adventures, the game focuses less on flashy presentation and more on delivering a lengthy campaign filled with exploration, tactical combat, and extensive party customization. Its central premise revolves around recovering nine legendary rings scattered throughout a dangerous world, but the real appeal lies in the freedom players are given to build their own group of champions and tackle challenges in their preferred style. From the opening hours, the game establishes itself as a love letter to old-school RPG design. Players travel across towns, forests, ruins, and sprawling dungeons while recruiting heroes from a surprisingly varied roster. Each character class contributes something distinct to combat, whether through offensive power, healing capabilities, magical support, or defensive utility. The flexibility in party construction is one of the game's most rewarding features, as experimenting with different combinations can dramatically alter the flow of battles. Players who enjoy c…

This is a very good old style rpg that focuses on dungeon exploration/adventuring. There are 8 characters with 3 variations on each one, and there are 6 levels of difficulty to choose from so lots of replay value here. As with virtually all of Aldorlea's games, there is a lot to see and do in terms of investigating the surroundings and is all backed up with a decent story. Yes, it's about a princess gone missing but with 9+ dungeons to clear that's a minor point as the well laid out and twisting dungeons become the principal project of the adventurers. (You choose 4 of 8 in adventurers in the beginning scenes.) Art work is well done, the music is unobtrusive, and the game will keep you occupied for many hours. Save often. I'm having a great time with this one and highly recommend it. A great game at a great price.

There is a lot of replayability because of the 8 characters you can choose 4, but each of the 8 has 3 variations with different skills and spells. So you could say that there are 24 different heroes to use. I particularly appreciated that you can save any time and there are no timers of any kind. I enjoyed the game very much up to the final tower. Killed every enemy I had access to but there was no way to go to any more levels. After rattling around the tower till I was sick of the layout and finding nothing I decided that there must be an invisible door somewhere that you have to bump into to find. This happened in a couple of other dungeons but the guide told me where they were. But in the final tower the guide was wrong and didn't help at all. The guide was very helpful but there are several mistakes in it, so beware. Anyway I didn't feel like banging into every wall in the tower so I quit. Other than that the game was very good and I can recommend it.
