The Faceless Ones

If you're expecting an interesting story from this game, with twists and turns etc. ... well, forget it. This game only has the most rudimentary skeleton of a story. With a pre-made 4-man army, you go into the next dungeon without much explanation. First on foot, then you get a ship. There are a few towns, but they are so boring. Most of the (very few) NPCs don't even react to you. The others have their 1 set (no quests!). And so you set off to defeat the evil overlord...and to get to him you have to kill the mini-bosses in 3 dungeons. In the dungeons there are, ohhh, 2 different mobs each. The enemies are visible and disappear forever when you defeat them. There are no enemies in the overworld...so no grinding. Instead, there is a lot of running around at the beginning. Because you hardly have any money to buy healing or mana potions. So...a few fights, then back to the next town to rest. As almost all of your opponents throw powerful spells around, the 3 casters are particularly important here. All in all, I have played much better RPGMaker games for free. Very cozy RPG that hits every checkmark I've been looking for that most modern takes on turn-based games opt to not go for. Each character's skillset is fun to use, especially Hyndla and Eidora. Very classically inspired but with refreshing twists such as TP and enemies being visible on the map.
