The Gap

This totally went under my radar. Think of Ether One, Tacoma, Dear Esther more or less as gameplay. Wonderful narration and mysterious story, close to perfect voice acting, fresh visuals and good graphics. Interesting story. Attention to detail (handwriting, texts, items). Recommend

I thoroughly enjoyed The Gap from start to finish. It's one of those rare narrative-driven games that feels less like playing a game and more like experiencing a thought-provoking sci-fi film. The atmosphere, voice acting, and presentation combine to create a genuinely cinematic experience. The story pulled me in immediately and kept me thinking long after the credits rolled. While some of the puzzles require a bit of thought and aren't simply handed to you, they never felt unfair and fit naturally within the world and narrative. As someone who grew up watching Quantum Leap and films like The Butterfly Effect, The Gap really struck a chord. It explores similar themes of memory, choice, consequence, and the desire to change events for the people we care about. It asks difficult questions without forcing easy answers, allowing players to draw their own conclusions. What I appreciated most was the emotional core of the story. Joshua's journey, and his relationship with Mia and Amber, gave the science-fiction concepts real weight and meaning. I had a good time with this game and I love the concept of it. Unfortunately for myself the game completely glitched, I've spent Hours trying to figure out the problem after beating the game in pretty decent time but nothing I did made a difference. I looked up solutions and those solutions didn't work, I redid everything I could from start to the part it glitched and nothing. again I had a good time with the game but it definitely let me down for an ending, glitch on my part I'm guessing so I'll recommend this game regardless.

Intriguing game with an important message. I even enjoyed the second playthrough (for the achievements i missed) - you notice all sorts of things that are meaningful, but you ignored on the first run.

The Gap is definitely a game with some strong concepts all-around, but especially when it comes to quality of the story, dialogues and game design. Some parts of the story were genuinely sad to play, watching people fall apart in different ways. It's a short experience but emotionally powerful. Can't believe this is a game made by only two people.
