Whispers From The Rift

Fun Choose your own adventure game where you can force a guy who really doesn't want to shoot people... to shoot people. The protagonist, Jenkins, being his own person that can like or hate you based on what you make him do is a lot of fun and the game does a good job remembering your choices. The characters are well defined and their banter is good entertainment. The story does a good job keeping you guessing about what's going to happen next and the lore gets deeper and deeper the more you dig (there's a whole ARG thing connected to their other games if your into that). Solid recommend if your into text based experiences.

Whispers From the Rift is a mostly text-based choose-your-own-adventure game set in the same universe as the developer's Consortium game and ARG. Background: - Reached all endings - Backer for Consortium and Consortium: The Tower Pros: - Entertaining story with a lot of endings - Provides significant background information for Consortium and Consortium: The Tower - A lot of content for the price - Easy to backtrack to previous choices to make new ones Cons: - I initially ran into a newly introduced bug which prevented me from getting past the main menu. However, the devs were responsive and resolved the issue quickly. I did not run into any other game-breaking bugs after that. - The game is still a bit buggy as of v1.0.4.0. I ran into a few cases where I had to restart the game when a stream refused to begin. There are scattered typos and occasional logical inconsistencies in some paths, and there are a few times when a minor scene will be skipped or repeated (with slightly different text implying a different path has been taken). On my first playthrough, I received an achievement for killing a certain character that I had just met, who was very much alive. - While there is some…

A fourth wall breaking extra story/reality from Interdimensional Games. Fans of the Consortium/Tower series will likely find themselves right a home in this brand new text-based choose-your-own-adventure. Return to alternate Earth once more as Robert Jenkins... before he becomes Bishop Six and loses his autonomy to the player! What will become of Jenkins under your watchful eye? Will you seriously follow along? Or drive him crazy? That's up to you... What else... There is some music, no spoken dialogue; but occasional graphical effects and images. It is a mostly pleasant reading experience, except sometimes the auto-scroll prevents me from scrolling until it finishes. I think I'm still early. I haven't reached the actual mission, but wanted to give it a thumbs up for fans of the series who don't mind a text-based choose-your-own-adventure. There was some unexpected reactions to my choices which I found odd, but still an easy recommend for fans. Anyone new to the series should be fine to start here as well. Looks like there's a demo so you can quickly sample and decide if it's worth your time :D May edit this after finishing a playthrough...

zzzz, zzzzz Boring gay story.

Obviously I like it or wouldn't have spent hundreds of hours testing it, providing feedback, and writing guides. I consider it a must-play for people that are interested in the iDGi-verse because there are gems buried in the myriad paths in this game. That said, the game, like all choose-your-own text adventures, requires patience and repetition. I would recommend playing this before Consortium because in terms of the lore, Whispers comes first and sets the stage nicely for Consortium. That said, it's not necessary if you want to jump directly into Consortium.

The writing is good - very compelling. Bit too many endings for me though - I'm packing it in after the pacifist ending. Would have appreciated a light color scheme option too, since the dark hurts my eyes. Music was great too.
