i played the free period they had, bought it, tried it, then returned it. Games not bad, very very high potential for a fps roguelike, movement feels good, that tactical side to side makes you think you can start parkouring, gunplay feels good, though sometimes hit registrations on certain enemies can leave you wonder like wth. Has an good amount of starting items in the game for it being early access, Trying to convince friends to play this is somewhat challenging because the price point is mediocre, while this is a very good game for where their at in the developing stages, i think that a $10 or even a $15 price would better suit the experience, then once the delivery on the roadmap leading to 1.0, would i see that a $20 or maybe even $25 be reasonable.
I bought the game expecting a RON style tactical shooter, but that's not exactly what I got. What I ended up being a unique blend of fast paced action and a tactical shooter, which isn't a bad thing. Both playstyles are viable both having drawbacks. Playing like it's new a COD game can clear levels fast however you can find yourself in a bad situation quick or you could play it slow and conserve your health but there are a few objectives that require you to rush like the bomb. Another positive about this game is the team knows what they are doing. Their previous work on Black Mesa and the care and attention they gave to that is here as well through the level design, cosmetics, and firearms. The maps themselves have a fair amount of open areas and corridors along with obstacles like locked doors or trip wires. The cosmetics are great, they have a fair share of modern tactical gear along with a few retro ones too, but the best thing is they're free aside from the HECU inspired one. Finally the fire arms. They may not have the real names of them but here's the thing, they are modeled off the real deal no COD half ass fictional bullcrap real looking firearms with a few added things li…
Fun and replayable (to a certain degree, needs more maps and content; there are only about four maps at the moment). The core of the game is essentially progressing through multi-level campaigns, earning money by completing semi-randomized objectives and unlocking items over time. If you die during a mission, you lose the equipment that you bring in with you. You can permanently unlock attachments for weapons, unlock camos, and customize your operator. Solo and multiplayer is available... though playing solo is really damn hard. Sometimes it feels the AI is cracked up and have ridiculous reaction times. Nevertheless, it is a good challenge... just be aware of the boss fights (they are ridiculously tanky, and you'll likely need to fight waves of enemies right after that when extracting). Either way, I look forward to seeing the future of this game!
Honestly, I wish I could give this game a neutral review. It's good for what it is, but I would mainly pick it up on sale. The main issue I have with it is that it seems to have an identity crisis Certain aspects of the game seem like they want you to play hyper tactical like in SWAT/Ready or Not. Stuff like no regenerating armor/HP, highly limited ammo, one shot headshots on nearly all enemies, first shot inaccuracy, and a stealth system (which admittedly is half baked) But then other aspects of the game seem to want it to be a horde shooter more akin to payday2. Stuff like the reaction time of enemies, the sheer number of enemies, enemy berserkers who sprint at you with a machete, the whole dead drop "roll for random weapons/equipment" system, and a boss enemy at the end of any one run with 9999999999 HP Additionally, I don't like the current implementation of armor. Given that there's no way to recover it in the field nor does it regenerate, even partially, its basically just worse HP, except for the fact HP can be healed by medkits, but you cant recover armor at all once a plate is broken. I think there should either be an armor bag equipment just like how there are medkits…
I like it.
I really enjoy the gameplay and customization and I just really want more 👌
