About The Girl from Arkanya

Join Marisa and Kapi as they journey into the jungles of Amazonia! The Girl from Arkanya is a pixel art action RPG that draws inspiration from 2D Zelda classics such as Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventures. Our tale begins in Arkanya, a city at the edge of the world. In a realm of danger and mystery, Marisa the Treasure Hunter strives to build a reputation for herself and carry on her family's legacy.

Along the way, a terrible turn of events forces Marisa to work alongside an unusual ally, a magical capybara known to the land as Ka'apiuara Yum Kaax. But you can call him Kapi!

Now they embark on an epic journey to save their home!
...And make some money doing it.
  • Journey Through 7 Unique Zones! Each of The Girl from Arkanya's overworld zones have been hand-crafted and are filled with people to meet, landmarks to discover, and most importantly, treasure to find!
  • Delve into 6 Challenging Dungeons! Each dungeon in The Girl from Arkanya has a unique theme, and tells an important part of the story. Find out what riches and perils await within!
  • Unlock Dozens of Collectables! Amazonia is home to many valuable artifacts, and each one tells a different piece of the land's history. Become a part of that history by collecting them all!
  • Obtain Unique Items! Use 15 equippable tools to solve puzzles, traverse terrain, and defeat your foes. Each item offers a new playstyle and allows you to progress in ways you couldn't previously, and some can be upgraded into even stronger versions!
  • Learn Ancient Magic! With each dungeon you complete, Marisa obtains a new spell which can be activated by performing sacred dances. These dances provide new powers to both Marisa and Kapi, granting each of them special abilities!
  • Swap Between Two Playable Characters! Alternating between controlling Marisa and Kapi is crucial to overcoming many of the challenges that await you in Amazonia.
  • Bring a Friend! The Girl from Arkanya features local co-op, allowing a second player to drop in and out of the adventure at any time.
  • Now You're Thinking With Capybaras! Creative use of the character-swapping mechanic creates endless opportunities for you to optimize your gameplay, and prove that you are truly the best treasure hunter out there!

So, what do you say, mate? Want to come to Arkanya for an adventure?

This game is ok. It has some good qualities: story and setting are unusual; the characters and dialogue are decent; the pixel graphics are charming. It also has some negative qualities: combat is simplistic (mash sword attack); healing and switching gear i cumbersome; treasure is a hassle to deal with. I'd probably rate it a thumbs up, barely, but the main thing I cannot forgive is that this game does not respect your time. It forces you to backtrack constantly, with no reliable movement speed increase and far too few warp points. The game also intentionally puts merchants and storage crates much further away form any warp point than necessary. And, as if to rub it in, the game has a very large circular fetch quest which sends you around the entire map _twice_, like a bad joke that you never asked to hear. I don't respect games that don't respect the player.

okay. if you like zelda games. then i have no more to say. specifically the SNES one. This checks a good amount of boxes for your arpg gameplay. it was a fun blind buy. and am still working on completing it. 9/10

The game was a lot of fun, a nice colorful adventure, exploring around with Marisa and Kapi's banter was entertaining and the story clearly evokes a greater world this was made in, hope there is more to the world of Marisa and the priestess' ! The pixel art is beautiful and the music while not as varied remained enjoyable the whole way through! I missed some upgrades despite beating the game so there are some secrets beyond the needed path for those who feel like exploring a bit more for them, there also optional quests where you get to interact some more with the NPCs which I felt added a lot their characters

Cute little Zelda 2D game. Graphics are beautiful and characters are endearing. Nice soundtrack too. It scratched the zelda 2d itch for me.

Very decent ALTTP clone with a style and vibe all it's own. Plus a wise cracking magic cappy?! Perfect. Really fun, easy game, fun story that isn't too wordy but close. Better than most rpg/adventure games out these days. Maybe about half way through and having lots of fun. Puzzles are good, combat is very tight and fast, exploration is solid, big map, good bit of enemy variety. What's not to love?
