"The Lancaster Leak - Crisis At Call Center" is a short, narrative heavy adventure game, the sequel to "The Lancaster Leak - O'brien State Park", although it's pretty much the same thing but arranged differently, and suffers from many of the same flaws like the ugly dated looking graphics from 2002, ugly VHS looking filter that makes the game look worse, and lack of length. At least this comes across a sincerely made, even if it's not very good. What do you do in the game? Well, not much, and there's the thing... this might as well have been a Youtube video. Gameplay is pretty much just clicking through security cameras and listening to wiretapped calls to piece together a rather trite Stranger Things fan-fiction. With the occasional jumpscare, of course. Yawn. Even though this is short, the sloppy controls, lack of polish and boring gameplay make this generally unpleasant to play... I'd go so far as saying that watching a Youtube play through of this by someone else is better than actually playing it. The game is quite short, and can be run through in just 30 minutes. The lack of content here makes it hard to suggest it's worth spending the time to add to your library a…2 found this helpful
This game was such a disappointment. No agency, no way to die/lose, with every single objective be boiled down to "Press E on a low poly, heavily pixelated object and bring it to another location" and the occasional monster walking around in the background with no actual way for it to be a threat to the player. all for some cheap, run of the mill jumpscare at the end.
4.6 A pretty fun short little horror experience. You don't really do much throughout, only really checking the email and fulfilling the tasks asked but it's meant to be that kind of 'mundane'. All while each night you're fed a narrative of what's going on. It does create a disconnect from the fact that we as a player know what is going on but we're meant to be witnessing cameras of someone who is unaware just doing their tasks. This works in narrative but as a game as I'm controlling them means I want to run around and see things, yet it never really lets you do much. There's a line early that obviously foreshadowed the end albeit even the end was obvious being what it is. But I did like it, and for the 30-40 minutes in length that it is, it does create a nice enough atmosphere that it's trying to set especially with it's grander narrative scheme (I know there's a couple other games in this same universe)
definitely an improvement over the first game and i did like it i really like the idea of controlling the character through fixed cameras that automatically follow them but it did take a while to get used to and was confusing at first, i do like the concept and the story and the graphics too (thank god the vhs filter isnt as intense as the first game), and overall it wasnt bad and i am also happy its longer than the first game my only main issue is the animations of the entity, it made it look more funny than scary oh and its free so i cant really complain too much
good
very spoopy, recommended
