About The Lost Legends of Redwall™: Escape the Gloomer

One of a series of six games, THE LOST LEGENDS OF REDWALL™: ESCAPE THE GLOOMER© is created in partnership with Soma Games, and owned by The Redwall Abbey company™, SOMA Games, and Penguin Random House UK™. The Lost Legends of Redwall™: Escape the Gloomer© is a Conversational Adventure™ game in nine chapters developed by Team Clopas.

Based on the wildly popular best-selling book, Mossflower, and second in the twenty-two book series by Brian Jacques, this interactive tale immerses the Player in the exploits and redemption of Gillig the otter as he tries to overcome his weaknesses, limited resources, and the menace of the monstrous water rat Gloomer.

Before Redwall™ Abbey, there was Kotir Castle, an abandoned fortress built over a large lake near the River Moss. It was taken over by the wildcat Verdauga Greeneyes and his Thousand Eyes army of vermin. Upon his untimely demise, his daughter Tsarmina began her evil rule. Subjugating the woodland inhabitants of Mossflower, this cruel Queen reigned using the army of a Thousand Eyes to collect food tribute from the peaceful forest dwellers. In her arsenal was a very special living weapon. A murderous insane creature kept deep in the bowels of the castle. Captured by her father, Gloomer the Greatrat was rightly feared by all. In these ancient days lived mighty heroes such as Martin the Warrior and Gonff Prince of Mousethieves.

Now our would be champion, Gillig directed by the otter leader Skipper, has been given a very special solo mission. Retrieve an ancient scroll once belonging to Verdauga. On the verge of being exiled from the otter crew, Gillig sees this as an opportunity to prove himself to the otter tribe – if he can overcome his weaknesses.

Your story begins with a descent down a rope into a ruined otter holt near Kotir Castle. What happens next will be totally up to you.

Its not the longest game ever, but as a companion to the books, it was worth the price. Enjoyed the experience even as a new comer to this genre of game play. The music and voiced dialogue was a cool bonus.

This game has many issues. To list a few: -I had to go on YouTube and put on my own ambient music for the game because the game just doesn't have any, it's absolutely silent except for random sound effects. This should never ever happen in an interactive experience, I don't know how testers of this game didn't mention this. -There is almost no reason for this interactive game to be an interactive game. The 'puzzles' are frustrating even with hints on because even though you type the same thing in a different way, it won't allow anything other than very specific phrases. You have no impact on the story regardless of what you do, it is simply a linear story where you must do the exact right thing or you won't progress. Failure isn't possible. Without spoiling anything, there's a very specific bit in the middle of the game that should be tense and stressful, but it's just laughably annoying. - Chapter 2 - The ending needed to be longer. For a story that seemed to mostly resolve around redemption, the whole 'redemption' bit was kinda cut short. Here are the reasons why this game gets an upvote from me with all of that said: The game has a soul, somehow. It doesn't seem like i…

If you like Redwall or text-based escape adventures, get this game! It's very affordable. However I did personally really struggle with it. The first acts were GREAT, I was having a lot of fun, but oh boy once we get to a little cave with several beaches/islands/shores... Oh no no no, I was a lost cause. I spent an hour trying to make progress on my own before I gave up and started peeking at guides to avoid getting frustrated. A lot of backtracking for the rest of the game, and thank goodness I was looking at a guide because I would have spent so much time wondering what I was supposed to do in an empty space or room. I don't think this is necessarily a fault of the game, however. I am just not used to games like these. I hope someone makes a 100% achievement guide so I could 100% the game :D.
