Charming, if this came out in 2010 it would've done numbers.
The Trench is a focused indie horror title that takes a familiar fear. the terror of the unknown lurking beneath the ocean, and transforms it into a tense and immersive experience. Developed by Omar Chapa Hernandez and Omar Chapa Moyers, and published by Omar Chapa Hernandez, the game places players in the role of the captain of the submarine Pandora during a mission to investigate the wreckage of another vessel, the Neptune. What initially appears to be a routine recovery operation quickly evolves into a disturbing descent into darkness, where the depths of the ocean conceal far more than abandoned machinery and lost data. This game took 21 minutes from start to finish. It's a rail-road type game, in that you progress through the story linearly, with no options to change the outcome. It's a fun diversion for the money, and a creation by a father and son. So it's horror-wholesome.
Absolute cinema. This game deserves to be made into a movie, the ending and lore make it a strong candidate for film making. The abyss and darkness of the trench feels like you are in the deepest darkest points of space. I appreciate the father and son developers of this game. If you have thalassophobia, I highly recommend this game for you.
Great experience while it lasts, but sadly, excruciatingly short. I really enjoyed it. Would like to see it expanded on into a larger game.
So short :( Could have been much more items to search for, as this part of the game felt really good. Jumpscares ahead.
