Controls randomly stopped working? actions and cutscenes sometimes weren't in sync. only managed to play the game for 3 hours and the character stopped walking and interacting.9 found this helpful
Atmosphere top notch. But the gameplay is just baaaaad. Just watch the story on YT!! Movement and interaction with environment is annoying and sluggish. Puzzles are nonsense and not thought through. And the investigation/deduction mechanic is simply so annoying stupid that i can't force myself to play it any further.5 found this helpful
Alright. Let's break it down! This game is very Nancy Drew. Lot's of exploration, clue deducing, clue connecting, with very little threats. Now I want to preface that there are threats within a few of the chapters but they are few and far between, and if you take your time and pay attention most of those threats can be avoided. This game gives you heavy lore, lots of beautiful imagery, ambiance, and atmosphere. I wish it had more threats, more moments that actually validated the angst that the scenes set, however that's a personal preference. If you're looking for a horror game that doesn't have the classic chase scenes, fights, jump scares, or even the classic "Bad Guy" then this game is for you. Spoiler: you got a few different endings, and some great hidden mental "fu**ery". This game is more about fighting yourself than a threat, and what I mean is that this game gives you a lot of moments where you don't want to do that's needed, or what the game wants you to. So take this review with a grain of salt. In recommend it, though it's not something I would traditionally play. It's not your classic horror game, but great if you wanna experience heavy lore, deduce clues, and inves…2 found this helpful
if you like games with cryptic stories that you have to figure out piece by piece - its for you1 found this helpful
I really like this game. You just have to accept that this is not an action game, but an investigation/puzzle game. They captured the mythos very well. Normally, I would say it is not good for lovecraftian horror to get so much into detail, but this game managed that by portraying R'lyeh disturbing as it should be. On top of that, there were many times I really got scared just by investigating the environment. The AI named "Key" is much less annoying than I initially thought. So, if you like horror and thinking that game is for you.1 found this helpful
Some of these puzzles are damn hard to figure out, and there's a lot you can miss if you aren't looking around carefully. This does not diminish it's playability, it's a great seek and find without combat
