About Narcosis
Stranded on the ocean floor in a diving suit, you must ration oxygen and fight through darkness and hostile creatures to reach the surface before pressure and hallucinations consume you. A psychologically intense survival experience rooted in real deep-sea horror, featuring a haunting score from Silent Hill's composer and a narrative that warps around your desperate escape.
This first person survival story unfolds from inside a half-ton, high-tech dive suit — a “walking coffin." Influenced and inspired by a growing appetite for unconventional horror and narrative-driven games, Narcosis is rooted in reality, but steeped in the surreal.
Features:
- Pressure Kills: High-stress situations accelerate oxygen intake, distorting sight, sound, space and time.
- Hostile Waters: A knife, flashlight and flares are essential to surviving the nightmarish flora and fauna of the abyss.
- Phantom Narrative: The survivor’s account unfolds in inexplicable ways alongside the player’s journey.
- Beyond Good and Evil: No shadowy organizations or eldritch terrors, only primal fears and human limits.
- Abyssal Ambience: A haunting soundtrack includes a closing theme from celebrated composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series)
About Honor Code:
Based in France and California, Honor Code’s collective resume includes such games and series as Assassin’s Creed, Dead Secret, Metal Gear Solid, Remember Me, Republique, The Silent Age, and Silent Hill.

Narcosis isn't a bad game, but it shoots itself in the foot by both requiring [i]and[/i] disincentivizing exploration. It's required to locate all 40 collectibles, each providing flavor text fleshing out the 20 underwater residents, but disincentivizes it by making locomotion slow and cumbersome and navigation confusing, while limiting camera mobility and providing limited oxygen to counter a rapidly depleting 02 meter. If you're interested, just watch a playthrough.3 found this helpful

Will scratch the itch for a game to play after Soma but the controls take some getting used to.1 found this helpful
2/10 - I never get motion sickness in VR. I have had solid VR legs for 5 years without a single issue, but Narcosis got me. I tried to play it three separate times, but the forced head-bobbing, input delay, and heavy suit momentum make it physically unbearable. I originally picked this up because it was recommended as a game to play after SOMA. Let me be very clear: this is nowhere near the level of SOMA. Even if you can stomach the terrible VR movement, the gameplay becomes incredibly boring after an hour. It is just a painfully slow walking simulator. To make matters worse, the narrator's voice acting is not good at all, which really drags down whatever atmosphere the game is trying to build. I will not be finishing it. If you want a great deep-sea psychological thriller, keep looking, because this isn't it.
