About Thirty Years' War

Thirty Years War is a new game designed by developer HQ covering one of the darkest ages of European history.

The Thirty Years War is the series of conflicts between Catholics and Protestants in the Holy Roman Empire and its surroundings, between 1618 and 1648. In this strategy game, players will take control of one of the opposing sides, Protestants or Catholics, and fight for the control of the Empire.

From the Bohemian rebellion to the Swedish intervention led by Gustavus Adolphus, from Denmark to the Palatinate, you can now recreate the Campaigns of Lützen, Nördlingen and Rocroi. In Thirty Years War you will coordinate the movements of several armies, take care of their supplies and fatigue and seek for the best conditions to engage in combat, undertake sieges or retreat to recover if needed; with the ultimate goal of gaining supremacy over Central Europe,

Together, these features, combined with the proven Ageod engine, make Thirty Years War a great choice to delight both players interested in this era and novice alike.

the negative reviews are real, the game crashes constantly. I could live with this if the save system worked but it also corrupts those, so in other words its completely broken and unplayable. I am not willing to copy files around in the background constantly just to play this. Basically a waste of money, there is a really fun game underneath all these problems but do yourself a favor and go play pike and shot campaign instead

Excellent simulation of the Thirty Years War period! Many aspects of this conflict are handled quickly and seamlessly! Excellent background music! You can even throw in special "cards" to give your units a special boost in movement or combat. Highly recommended if you are a fan of this period!!

The age of ChatGPT allows AGEod-games to be played by a wider audience, since ChatGPT can act as a genuine teacher here, telling the player not only what to do, but how to think about the game, which requires a very hard shift away from every other wargame, and i'd like to encourage using this apporach heavily. This game is a very good simulation of what actual operational warfare has to look like: You’re Not Trying to Win Battles — You’re Trying to Break a System. In AGEod games, the enemy doesn’t “lose” because you killed his army. He loses because: * His ability to function collapses * His political / strategic posture becomes untenable * His forces can no longer be in the right place at the right time Big victories matter only if they cause that collapse. So your question is never: “Can I defeat this army?” It’s: “What happens to the war after this army is defeated?” If the answer is “not much,” the battle wasn’t important. Time Is the Real Currency (Not Territory, Not Kills). AGEod wars are wars of attrition, pressure, and tempo. You win by: Forcing the enemy to react. Making him late. Making him waste seasons. Making his plans expire. You win by steadily reducing the enemy’s …

A good game. I like strategic games like this. I reminds me of playing the old Avalon Hill games.

Too many bugs! To play a game you need to persist through numerous CTD - until you inevitably incur a fatal one! Its maddening.

A good military strategy game set in an interesting era, that will offer you the possibility to learn something playing a game. Differently from some other players I have not found any serious bugs; the only weakness is the AI that could be defeated quite easily from an experienced AGEOD Player. worth to be bought during the sale.
