TLDR: It's the ultimate logistics simulator for hardcore strategy purists, but the interface is dated and the engine stability is terrible on modern rigs. You will need to buy "Their Finest Hour" DLC to enable CPU multicore optimizations. I would also recommend downloading the 4GB LAA patch online to let the executable use more RAM. Hearts of Iron III is a great military RTS game based in WW2. You can play as any country and build an army and alliances to try to take over the world. It's a top down game with a lot of mechanics that creates a very large learning curve. Once you learn the basics however this game is a blast to play and runs very well on older hardware unlike it's successor. This game is very complex and I don't want to sugar coat it at all. If your looking for a game to pick up and play this isn't it. This game requires you to play a few matches to start to grasp concepts and what you are doing before you understand the basics to have a good play through. You need to research different equipments as well as politically manage your country and dealing with different ideology countries that don't like you. You also need to micro manage your army as you will need them …4 found this helpful
