About Thunderday
Thunderday
A twin stick shooter, and for some also a bullet hell, following a group of friends and family traveling to strange worlds and locations fighting their way through hordes of enemies to find and destroy the one responsible for all this destruction. Choose your hero and start your journey.

You and your friends, a couple of middle aged game and fantasy nerds are playing the new board game Dungeons and Donders. Then all of a sudden the ground starts shaking and a loud explosion is heard in the distance, soon after that your family's house gets destroyed. You jump outside in anger to check if the rest of your neighborhood is still intact but then... Suddenly you find yourself in a gunfight with an unknown enemy that looks out of this world!
Go and take your revenge on the one who demolished this wonderful board game event with your friends. On your journey you'll venture to all kinds of planets and locations, all with unique enemies and different environments. Can you complete your quest to destroy the one responsible and maybe even a far greater evil?
Cancel Enemy Bullets
Every hero comes with its own and unique defensive special that protects you against bullets.

Asteroid Blaster: Mini Game

Origin
Thunderday is originally a game made for a group of friends that every year, go on a board game weekend. Each year one of the friends creates a board game to play. We've had a papercraft game, a board game made of building blocks and one with big castles that are normally used for aquariums. Last year it was my (Niekoe) turn. The idea was that everytime my friends beated a game board they had to play a level in a video game. So I asked my colleague from work (CrasyBoy) to help create an awesome video game for that board game weekend.

We had a blast creating Thunderday and the game grew bigger and bigger. Adding more levels and even a highscore game for the friends to compete in.
Eventually on game day Thunderday was a great success and my friends asked if we could release the game. We expanded and improved the game and now we are glad we can show Thunderday to the world.

A typical twin stick shooter with two modes and the same stages each time you play. It’s just another title that doesn’t bring anything new. Despite having different characteristics, the character you choose doesn't make much of a difference except for the shooting speed of their weapon. However, not all are suitable for every stage. The knight, for instance, has a very strong but also very slow weapon that makes him unplayable in a stage with fast moving aliens. Each character also possesses a defensive skill and a superpower. While the defensive skill recharges over time, the super power requires canisters found throughout the stage. There are two modes in which you can play the game. Choose the arcade if you want a more streamlined experience. This option is also easier and intended for genre newcomers because you can continue from whatever phase you want. Rogue, on the other hand, only offers you one life throughout the game. However, this is not quite true because you can retry the current stage as many times as you choose. The only rule is that you don’t return to the main menu. UPDATE: this was fixed in the latest patch. You can no longer retry the stage after dying in…2 found this helpful
Enjoying it, cool graphics and easy to pick up1 found this helpful
After playing the closed beta I was very enthusiastic about this game. I'm not that good at twin-stick shooters, but I find that getting hit is only my own fault. So it's a matter of practice, lots and lots of practice, before I'll be able to beat the final boss (tip from the developer: stay calm, don't move too much, reload whenever possible). I would have liked button mapping on the controller, because using the RT in stead of the RB for shooting feels more natural to me and my big hands. The visuals are simply lovely. If you have some spare time on your hands, you should definitely give this a try. What started as a funny side-project, has become a full-blown game of which the designer and the programmer both can be very proud.
