Tide of Thieves

Tide of Thieves is a lively top-down pirate adventure that keeps things fun without ever feeling overwhelming. You play as a crew with a salty sea captain, a cautious cannoneer, and a clever cartographer working together to retake stolen treasure. Along the way you explore fortresses, solve puzzles, fight off invading cannons and weird contraptions, and manage scarce resources like weapons and ammo. The variety of enemies (rockets, mines, even ray guns) keeps you on your toes. Compared with the PS1 classic Overboard!, Tide of Thieves shares a sense of playful exploration and urgency, though it leans more heavily into action than Overboard!’s branching narrative. Tide of Thieves is heavily inspired by Overboard! (1997). Very similar gameplay & weapons. Lacks multiplayer but features updated graphics & QoL features, secret areas, & campaign. Nostalgic & fun. If you ever played Overboard! back in the day, you'll want to check it out. If you haven't, it was one of my favourite games growing up and your kids will probably love it too. A very fun and great tribute to the psx game shipwreckers!/overboard. This is a better game and more refined due to it being released many many years afterwards. The gameplay is fun and frantic yet not frustrating because you get to continue right where you left off. There are also puzzle elements and things to keep you thinking and moving quickly at the same time. Very cute pirate themed graphics and animations. Smooth controls. A great game if you like the look of it.
