Story

In the distant past, the Cassarians were a highly-advanced civilization. Through leveraging the vast crystalline mineral deposits on their planet, Cassara, they were able to propel civilization forward at a staggering pace. While most of these crystals served more mundane purposes, the most precious crystalline mineral, Cassinite, unlocked a Golden Age of wealth and exploration. Cassinite accelerated technological development by immense leaps, allowing for travel throughout the known galaxy and beyond. However, as Cassinite reserves depleted, a mass exodus ensued. Despite the certainty of a difficult life, a small portion of the population remained, determined to preserve their home planet Cassara. The once easily traversed expanses of Cassara now pose significant challenges for the remaining inhabitants.

Trace Hunters, the few who dare venture between the safety of civilization, are a key link in connecting the disparate remains of society. As a Trace Hunter, discover precious resources of the past and traces of lost technology as you battle through hordes of ancient Servitors, reawakened robot that once aided the Cassarians in their daily lives.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's fun gunplay mechanics and satisfying weapon upgrade system, with a vehicle-based shooter experience reminiscent of games like Twisted Metal and Serious Sam. However, the main criticism is the lack of content—with only three missions that can be beaten in about 40 minutes and minimal replayability incentives—combined with technical issues where the vehicle frequently gets stuck on terrain with unreliable reset functionality. The game offers decent value for casual play but falls short for those seeking substantial content or mechanical depth like vehicle customization

While the game itself is good, whats here to offer is interesting and fun, the gunplay is fun and the driving around is really enjoyable, there's just not enough of it. Literally, it took me 40 minutes to beat the three levels on offer here. I guess I could spend another 40 minutes playing through again just to unlock the other weapons? There's really nothing there to push me to do that though, there's no replayability really, no collectables to find, no alternate routes, just the same three missions to go through again and again. If you're okay with spending 6 bucks for 40 minutes of content, then this game is for you. If that just isn't enough for you, like me, I wouldn't buy it. I wish there was a middle rating because that's what I'd put here, as the mechanics DO make it fun to play, it's just that there's so *little* of it to play with. EDIT: I fully completed the game in 74 minutes. All weapons unlocked, all three missions played through multiple times. It's fun while it lasts I guess but I was expecting something at least a couple or a few hours long, not a single one where I completed everything already. At least put in your advertising that it's a short experience. 6 do…

A short game, but it has some satisfying gameplay. I do wish there were some additional upgrades to your vehicle aside from unlocking new weapons. Being able to adjust speed, fire rate, shield stuff... Those would have been very cool additions. Ah well, no big deal. In any case, you're a vehicle. Maybe you're a person in the vehicle. I'm actually not sure. But you drive around and shoot robots so you can collect some mineral. It plays a bit like Twisted Metal, I feel like that's a pretty decent comparison. Combat is pretty fast and chaotic most of the time, but there are a few areas you an take a more nuanced approach. Missions are replayable if you're looking to go back and blow up a bunch of robots, or just kind of enjoy the scenery. To me it reminds me of some of the canyons in Arizona and Utah.

good concept, not much actual content. feels like a proof of concept game or a demo. about an hour of stuff to do. not really worth the cost imo. to me a game should give you at least 1 hour per $ spent. $5>1h, not worth it
Trace Hunters

Positives:
+ Vehicle combat (there arent many out there) + Nice graphics + Good sound and music + Some cool weapons to use + Upgrades + The Shield + The few parts that look a bit different
Negatives:
- Only 3 quite small missions in total - Handling and physics are not great - Its too easy to get temporary stuck or spin around - Very few enemy types - Too much copy paste level design - Most of the settings are not available in-game - Very short (over in about an hour)
Conclusion:
This was more like a demo than a full game, but its okay for what it is. Its got a few problems, but nothing serious. So if you enjoy games like Interstate 76' and Bandits: Phoenix Rising you might like this as well. But dont expect too much, in fact its best if you dont expect anything.
Total Score: 5.5/10
