Amazing game, very peaceful but engaging. Frustrating at times as Aava can be a bit inaccurate when aiming for footholds/handholds. Also I had to switch off the survival mode a few times as I feel it distracts from the climbing and felt quite secondary. Overall, very engaging game and mechanics. The story is okay, not very fleshed out.

It's not often that a game wins me over in the tutorial. I spent the first 1.5 hours of my playtime trying to climb all 8 of the walls in the gym before realizing I hadn't even started the actual game yet (you only need to complete the first 3 and the rest are just challenges). This game is exactly what it presents itself as. If you want a game about rock climbing, just buy it.

I'll be honest, I hated this game in the beginning, maybe the first 3 hours I really hated this game. I didn't like how angry the main character was, every time I fell she would be yelling and cursing and it honestly felt more directed at me than at herself. I didn't understand her character, why was climbing this mountain so important? I didn't even really like the climbing mechanic, I still don't, but I didn't before either. You might think not liking the core mechanic of the game is a game killer, but it's really not. It's functional enough most of the time, but sometimes it's just weird and glitchy. Sometimes your limbs move in impossible ways and you don't fall, but other times you'll grab something you're sure would be a good hold and your limbs start trembling. I fell 297 times by the end of the game and died 6 times btw. Sometimes you're 100% on top of something you can stand up on and the character will just refuse to stand up and so you have to hold B to make her "jump" and stand up. Sometimes she won't pull herself up when you are over half way up a ledge. I could go on and on. Don't even get me started on the running. Somehow this super fit mountain climber …

Absolutely loved this. Its gorgeous to look at, challenging but achievable as the game constantly teaches you how to be better at it, and an emotional depth I was not expecting but packed a punch. Take your time with it and enjoy. I've done 2 playthroughs and will inevitably be doing another at some point, though free solo mode might be a step too far for me. Overall, superb and would highly recommend to anyone who loves finding a game that wants to show you its world.
