[This is an updated review. Original was Not Recommended, due to the game only allowing the player to control ship rotation.] The new version adds an option for letting the player choose when to thrust or fire weapons, and with that new control scheme, I can change this review to Recommended. It's a very slow-paced take on Asteroids that trades off twitch action for careful planning of your ship's maneuvering and attacks. There are still a few things that could use some tweaking, but for the most part, it's a nice diversion that can be almost relaxing... until the drones start showing up to spoil the day, anyway.

https://youtu.be/lTevYfqA2k0 The classic 'Asteroids' formula of shootin' rocks in space relies on responsive controls as pretty much the only important feature. 'TROID BLASTER' fails to nail the ship control which results in a disappointing experience all around. The addition of power ups and weapon variety is a good push forward but the inability to control what weapons the player collects often has great weapon replaced with a terrible one.

Good game but I had to restart my computer to close. Also hard to control at first, but everyone who sees this the game is awesome and the creator is very kind. Also thanks to kings guard games for sending me the code.
The games awesome.
It's basically asteroids with some changes, but I mean, asteroids is still a good game. Worth the money.

OK this only cost me 39p, so I'm not gonna complain too much, but it takes waaaaay to long to buy the second ship, and the first ship is soooo painfully sluggish. I would recommend lowering the cost of the second ship to 30 credits. Also the controller controls aren't great. A to fly forwards and B to shoot? You realise how uncomfortable that is if I want to fly and shoot at the same time? Which is most of the time by the way. If you can figure out how to program shoulder buttons, I would recommend using them for thrust and A to shoot. What would be even better is re-bindable keys, or at least a selection of control schemes to choose from. Also keyboard controls could be better. Arrow keys are cute and retro and all, but here in the future we like to WASD. Art could use some work too. I recommend 'Drawing On The Right Side Of The Brain' by Betty Edwards if you haven't already read it.
