About Roidrekt

The year is 3055. For decades, mining the solar system’s main asteroid belt from the orbit of mars has produced enormous rare mineral reserves and brought closer the dream of interstellar travel. Now however, something has altered the planetoids’ orbit and as mining units are lost, foul play is suspected...

Take on the role of an interceptor shuttle and blast asteroids, UFOs and rogue agents in frantic retro action.

Features

  • Survive as long you can to set the high score and unlock new ships
  • Easy to pick-up, but increasingly challenging gameplay
  • Classic, arcade action

Hints

  • In Space, deceleration is slow; re-orientating the ship and accelerating in a new direction is far more effective.
  • Larger asteroids will sometimes drop bonuses
  • Bonuses remain for varying amounts of time, be strategic in their collection

Notes

  • Two gamepad controllers are required for local co-op
  • On first run of the game, be sure to pick your appropriate screen resolution from the options menu; this may only take visual effect when the level loads

Update, March 2020:

Test your combat prowess against the new alien Mothership boss, featuring laser barrages and homing missile assaults. A captured UFO craft has also been added to the player ship selection, unlocking after achieving a score of 40,000 or more.

Update, February 2020:

The latest update for Roidrekt has added new player pickups in the form of laser drones and faster-than-light boosters. As well as a raft of performance improvements, the game's difficulty has been tweaked.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this modern take on Asteroids for its addictive arcade gameplay, variety of ship classes with distinct playstyles, and nostalgic presentation that feels both simple and challenging. The quick reloads, controller support, and catchy soundtrack contribute to its appeal as a casual time-sink for score-chasing. Some minor complaints include occasional glitches with larger asteroids and unclear story progression, though these don't significantly detract from the overall experience.

Just discovered this game, it is super addictive, simple and a fun take on the old astroids game but with a modern spin... spent a while trying to unlock the first ship and the fact there are different classes and plays tyles of ships to choose from I rate this game stunning!

Really love draining a couple hours into this game at a time and getting lost in space, literally. Pretty simple arcade shooter but also very challenging at the same time. Some of the larger tiered asteroids seem to glitch out for me every other game, but nothing too troubling - has never lead to a loss, and I'm sure these things will get solved out as Deathbed makes their touches. Overall great arcade shooter that is worth sinking time into just to beat your own high score.

I enjoy this game. The level of detail to give it nostalgic feel is great. It's additive. It works on both keyboard and controller. It's intuitive mainly. Reloading is quick, which is useful if you die a lot - not that I do, but other people might ;). On a similar note I'm yet to find out in the story line progresses from the initial situation. Until I got the TR8TR badge I didn't know that I was shooting my comrade - whoops. So, it really does feel like a nostalgia game because many a time I've been not sure of the plot or the final goal but does that really matter when you're enjoying yourself shooting at space debris?!?

Good fun, great challenge, something casual that fills spare time easily. There are four types of ship, each with a good unique feel. Soundtrack is catchy and the game as a whole has a huge throwback to the arcade genre. Highest score for myself so far is 49k. Could be good to see some small expansions adding more maps and ships, etc. Or maybe even a sequel.
