Galactic Glitch

You might get a few hours of fun out of this game while you're figuring things out, but there really isn't much depth to be found. I won't complain much about the story being subpar (though it really is), because the biggest issue by far is the lack of balance. Both in terms of builds (there are elements that the moment you use them turn out to be so obviously superior that you've no reason to ever go for anything else) and overall gameplay (once you have a semi-competent build, you can annihilate normal combat rooms, even without meta-upgrades and the only way the bosses can even try to provide a challenge is through bullet hell attacks that your ship is to slippery to handle with precision). The gravity gun, while a neat gimmick at first, also doesn't have much depth. If you build for it, then all you do in combat is fly around spamming the grab and release button at every opportunity with zero thought. And that becomes especially apparent in challenges that take away your normal weapons.

I never thought I'd spend this much time playing Galactic Glitch ! It's one of those games you get in a bundle, and after a quick look-see... Oh, this looks like a cool twin-stick shooter with flashy colors, so the mechanics can't be that hard to grasp ! And it takes but a few seconds to install... Why not give it a shot, it could be fun for 20 minutes ? Maybe even an hour ! Or 40... Because Galactic Glitch is fun from the get-go ! Pick a spaceship among the ones you have unlocked (up to 9 different ships at the end, each with their own stats and special abilities), a weapon, and embark on an adventure where solar systems serve as the floors of a roguelike, getting harder the further you travel. Each sector has its own ambiance and enemies, a shop, challenge and secret rooms... All the classic roguelike elements are here, for a game that looks pretty and feels good to play from the very first runs. Beyond the classic twin-stich shooting, you can also play around with the game's main gimmick : throwing space rocks. But not only rocks ! Good game ruined by horrible design choices and abysmal balance. It is not that the game is too hard that ruins the balance. Just that some weapons are so clearly superior to all others and some powerups are so clearly ridiculously OP that it becomes stale super quick. You are either punishing yourself or you are picking the stuff that is absurdly OP. Same with enemies. And lifegain drops. When stage 2 drops about 5 or more lifegain items and stage 3 drops zero, the gamer gets confused. And there is a LOT of confusion going on. Some players like exploration. I like facts. "What does that even do?" is the defining thought the first few hours. The dev wrote a "guide" but that isnt even a guide. Another balance catastrophe: You get not nearly enough glitch bombs to use them as door openers and chest keys early. on. So you should never waste them. Then in the last level, you get like 30 and have no doors or chest to open with. Sooooo... you want me to use them in combat? But in 10 hours, I didnt use a single one in combat so far. I dont even know what they DO, no idea how big the explosion is, if it clears enemy projectiles, no idea what the HECK is even going on. Just... a lot of h…

Seemed a little lackluster and clunky at first, but once you get an understanding of the controls, you'll find that this action-packed roguelike has some incredibly solid fundamental mechanics and synergies. Ripping apart an enemy ship using their gun against them, and then throwing that same dismantled gun into another enemy's face is so incredibly satisfying on it's own... I'm just surprised this game doesn't have more traction in the market. TLDR, give it a try. Pay full price if you'd like to support a small dev team, or buy it on sale if you're on a budget. It's worth your time if you're looking for something casual but fun.
