"Two Clusters: Kain" is an RPG Maker template job where the developer filled out maps and templates in the "so easy kids can use it" Final Fantasy ripoff construction kit, used some character generators for the dialogue pictures, and maybe some of their own assets (because wow, the in-game characters look so, so bad) and then dumped this on Steam so they could pretend to be a game developer. At least they're not trying to charge money for RPG Maker garbage. The writing in this game is all done with Google Translate or something, because wow, the English has been butchered. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. …

I’d probably go with a mixed review if I could. The gameplay is disappointing. It feels like it’s in Early Access. However, I was interested in the plot and the dialogue. I’ll go with a thumbs up because it’s free and the developer actually replied to a question I asked. This game has potential, but it also has several bugs. Despite the bugs, I was able to finish the main story, so the bugs aren’t totally game-breaking, but some of the side quests may not be possible. Apart from the bugs, there are a lot of spelling errors. The game occasionally crashes, but the save system seems to work okay, so you can just go back to your last save point. I thought that the ground combat was a little too hard. Space combat itself isn’t too bad, but there are way too many random pirate encounters. The developer concedes that the game is buggy, but has given up on using RPG Maker, so don’t expect any patches or updates. Final verdict. This game isn’t really recommended for most people, but it might be worth a shot if you are willing to take a chance on a buggy game.

The realistic sci-fi setting was appealing, but there's nothing to like about the main character, who gets drunk and steals someone's purse for no reason - and exhibits signs of prejudice - right at the beginning of the game. There seems like there's a lot of content here, but the game design is too flawed for me to reach it, unfortunately.

Before I say anything else, let's get to the biggest complaint I have against this game. There is a very real possibility that players can get a GAME OVER before the game gets interesting. So, among the first missions of the game tasks the player to take a fleet of four frigates to Pluto. If the mission was simply a matter of going from Point A to Point B, maybe it wouldn't be so stressful and/or rage-inducing. However, the mission asks for players to not loose any of the ships in the fleet, or else, it's a GAME OVER. While the player has some agency as to how often they fight during this mission, if the enemy detects the player, the ensuing fight is unavoidable. The enemy approaches the player at a speed that exceed the player's. However, what makes this mission stressful is that there is no way to direct enemy fire to ships that are more well off, and no way to repair damage from the vessels that are in danger of being destroyed. Thus, the possibility of getting a GAME OVER before the game gets interesting. I feel the art style and writing can be a little rough in places. Do they detract from my fun? No, but, this is ultimately my opinion, and experience, and that can certainl…
