About Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry
Embark on a brutal revenge quest as one-handed pirate Christopher Raven, combining visceral sword combat, naval warfare, and exploration across an 18th-century Caribbean open world. Shape your legend through choice-driven missions and a dynamic notoriety system that determines whether you're feared for savagery or respected for cunning mercy.
It's been years since Christopher Raven's family was brutally murdered by Neville “the Devil” Scranton and his bloodthirsty gang, the Devil's Tines. Orphaned and missing a hand, Christopher is rescued by Marcus, an ex-slave and rum-maker who nurses Christopher back to health and takes him under his wing.
Growing up with a black bitterness in his heart, Christopher drowns his demons in rum and violence, brooding endlessly on the revenge that was stolen from him when the Devil’s Tines disappeared in the monstrous quake that sunk half of Port Royal. When a string of brutal and all too familiar murders occur, Christopher’s chance for revenge is suddenly within his grasp. Neville and the Tines are back, and nothing on earth will stop Christopher from claiming their heads.

Vendetta: Curse of Raven’s Cry is one of those games that became infamous long before many players even gave it a real chance. Originally released under the name Raven’s Cry before later being revised and rereleased, the game developed a reputation for technical problems, clunky mechanics, and questionable design choices almost immediately after launch. Yet despite all of its flaws, there is still something strangely compelling buried underneath the chaos. Beneath the bugs and awkward systems lies an ambitious pirate RPG trying very hard to deliver a darker and more grounded version of the pirate fantasy. The game rarely reaches its full potential, but there are enough interesting ideas and atmospheric moments hidden inside the mess to make it more memorable than many completely forgettable open-world games. The story centers around Christopher Raven, a pirate captain consumed by revenge after witnessing the brutal murder of his family during childhood. Having lost his hand during the attack, Christopher grows into a violent and emotionally broken man obsessed with hunting down those responsible. Unlike more romanticized pirate adventures focused on treasure hunting and lightheart…2 found this helpful

This game had a lot of potential, and I like the fact that it attempts to take a look at the darker side of piracy in the Caribbean. There's no fantasy theme like with Skull & Bones, and there's no lighthearted tone like any sort of Pirates of the Caribbean game or Sid Meier's Pirates. That being said, this game isn't perfect at all. The voice acting is kind of dry and both the land combat and ship combat leave much to be desired, though I honestly couldn't even say that for sure given how many bugs and crashing issues the game suffers from. In order to be even remotely playable, it requires quite a bit of tweaking on the users' end, and even so once you reach a certain point in the storyline or venture into certain environments there just comes a point where both soft and hard crashes are encountered every 30 seconds to 1 minute essentially rendering this title unplayable. I almost never request refunds from Steam, but in this case it seemed like the only logical thing to do when, of the short amount of hours logged on record, approximately one half of that time is spent fiddling with the in-game settings, enabling and disabling various Windows settings, and poring throug…1 found this helpful
Peak eurojank. The sword combat is horrible, the ship combat a bit better. Crashes a lot, turn on v-sync and lock the game to 60fps to reduce crashes. The story was actually quite good especially towards the end. The best thing about the game is how it portrays pirates and 18th century. It's a really authentic and gritty world with it's controversial problems, without much censorship and many game reviewers tried to cancel the game for that at the time of release. The towns and architecture are also really authentic for people living by the sea at the time. If you can deal with the jank, it's a great pirate game.
Only recommend cuz you can buy dirt cheap not on Steam. Got for $2 Pros - Story is actually good especially near the end - Characters and voice acting is great! Actually enjoyed some of the quest - Ship combat is simple, but effective. - Firearms are OP, but admittedly fun. Just quickfire to delete any enemy especially with late game weapons Cons - No proper tutorial, went all game without crafting a single item cuz I don't know how(not joking) - Land combat is atrocious against animals. They constantly run underneath your character making you float on top of them and impossible to hit them while you take damage. - Chest/Loot is pointless. Most only have something pointless like 60 gold. A ship cost 25k so have fun... - Skills are terrible. The entire Crow tech tree for example is worthless and since your ship is trash in the beginning your just gonna prioritize boring stat boosting "skills" for your ship first. - Exploration is pointless. Loot is garbage and the only other thing to get from exploring is experience to level up, but the skills from leveling up are trash. - No outfit customization in a RPG? The only thing you can change is your hat - Quest sometimes don't update the…
