About Venture Arctic
Extreme seasonal change defines the cycle of life in the northernmost reaches of the globe. In Venture Arctic, the player controls the forces of earth, sun, wind, and water to bring summer and winter to polar bears, orcas, and more.
Venture Arctic is an ecosystem simulator with a twist: the player is rewarded for both life and death. For every animal that passes on, the player collects a “spirit”, which they can then use to bring change to the environment. Players might spend this spirit to create winds, blowing the smells of a beached whale to a starving wolverine, or they might blanket the tundra in snow and ice to weed out the weak musk ox from the strong.
While the controls are simple, the systems are complex: players must understand the mating behaviors of the caribou, the feeding patterns of Arctic cod, and the social structures of Arctic wolves in order to succeed. Most of all, players will learn that an ecosystem’s survival depends upon seasons of plenty and of hardship, of life and of death.

I played this back in 2007 when it came out after my cousin told me about it. It was the best thing I'd ever played back then. I actually paid $25 bucks for it when they were selling on their website. I probably put in at least a thousand hours over the next 4-5 years and then, life happened, I got older, got a new PC and really just forgot about it for 10 or so years. Until I went back on my old PC and saw it still sitting there. I did a quick google search and yeah... You can imagine my surprise when I saw it on Steam... I had to get it. And it's only $3 now?!?! In summary, you can't really experience what I experienced with this game in today's modern gaming era, I can't even experience it myself again. I wish I could though, all those years ago, playing this for the first time. It really was and still is just an awesome game through and through. And an added bonus, it taught me a hell of a lot about the ecosystem. To the guys who made this, I owe a substantial amount of my childhood to you. Thanks for making such a great little game. It's not the greatest in terms of graphics but back then this was amazing, I 100% recommend everyone to play this, you'll enjoy it. Trust me…18 found this helpful

[h1] DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review [/h1] Venture Arctic is a game developed and published by Pocketwatch Games The game offers some really nice graphics and a nice yet simplistic aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail even though it is a little rough around the edges The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless and ends just at the right time Venture Arctic overall, however, is an okay game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is an okay simulation sandbox game to play in short bursts! Game does not work; extremely buggy and does not allow you to play the game; you are locked into the tutorial. The screen flashes a whole bunch too; completely unplayable, literally.1 found this helpful
I bought this game for nostalgic reasons. Upon replaying the game as an adult, about 15 minutes into the game, a crow told me to go around the world, find an adult Arctic Hare (Lepus arcticus), and impregnate the hare. So I did. Fun experience, I suppose.
fun, always wanted a game like this.
