UPDATE: After the 8/24 patch, I decided to see if anything has changed. It's actually kind of surprising that several things can get fixed while keeping some things completely broken. See that 4.4 hours of playtime? Yeah, that's all accrued in runs trying to beat the first boss. The actual levels have been re-balanced quite well; even on normal they are challenging but do-able. But that boss. It's not only that the combat system just doesn't work against him, it's that when he gets to less than half health, the entire arena becomes obscured to the point where it's impossible to see, and the frame rate tanks again. Feel free to see the screenshot I posted of what that "looks" like. There's still a nugget of fun that could be salvaged from this, but as it stands I still can't recommend the game in its current state. [ORIGINAL REVIEW] I looks pretty cool, and at first I was hopeful. The tutorial introduces some neat moves, and the combat was feeling pretty decent. But it all fell apart the moment I actually started playing. The "normal" difficulty is ludicrous. The first mission I had was to kill 30 mobs, and I tried 11 times before game over and got at most 7 in any attempt. Ok,…11 found this helpful
For other game reviews, please follow us at What The Game?
Void Dementia is an 3rd-person action game with Roguelike elements that has you portray Cecil De Rochefork whose family suffered humiliation and deaths at The Enelin Battle and in revenge for her family, assassinated countless competitors of The Enelin Battle. After being tormented by the outcome, instead of being punished by God, she was offered to fight for him for the next 1000 years against Demons who came to invade the world and bring out the end of it.
Different Dimensions
As the story goes, that is roughly what I can gather and think about how the story starts off. This being that one of the issues Void Dementia has is the translation. Where the story is solely relayed by “journals” that you unlock by completing a stage throughout the campaign. When the story does make sense in those journals, it tells a tale of what could be something epic that is hampered down by some rough grammar/translation and its delivering of it in a sense. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2844277367
This or That
For the sto…3 found this helpful

It's a shame this game din't get more traction and exposure. Don't get me wrong, the game has plenty wrong with it. But there is a cool factor underneath that would have been great explored further. The main issues seem to be related to playing it with a controller. The blink system on controller is clunky which defeats the purpose of it's intended tactic. Which is to zip around the arenas while fighting the bosses and I suppose minor enemies. Also the skill menu is absolutely miserable to navigate on controller. Beyond that are minor things...such as a slight disconnect with attacks and enemies...it just doesn't feel completely solid... The art direction is great and the MC looks pretty cool and has very smooth animations for her attacks. The game has a plethora of skill upgrades that expand on the 3 weapons available. And of course there's dozens of incremental passive upgrades. It's a shame the general combat with minor enemies is so lifeless...regular enemies are of little threat unless they mob you. I suppose this is where you can practice your moves and combos. But overall these encounters feel lifeless. There's only 4 bosses and only 2 of them are actually fun to fight. T…1 found this helpful

Developed by Korean indie studio J2YSOFT, Void -Dementia- is a Hack and Slash game. Done in a pixel shading design, you will fight your way through a tower, beating minions and bosses, levelling up, and learning patterns, until you reach the end. The game takes some inspiration from Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Dark Souls, in its fighting system. Although nothing wrong with it, nothing terribly good either to make it stand in the already saturated market of Hack and Slashes. I found I had to touch some camera settings, due to its slow movement, but nothing troublesome. The game has plenty of levels and bosses to justify its price tag, although, for what I've seen, the first levels are visually repetitive.
