About Voltage High Society

✦ AI summary

Punch your way through a decaying prison island in this first-person Metroidvania where your bare fists and salvaged body upgrades are the only keys to unlocking new areas and abilities. Melee-focused combat rewards aggression and positioning while a dense, hand-crafted world reveals secrets and shortcuts as your grotesque, body-horror powers evolve.

A FIRST-PERSON METROIDVANIA. NO GUNS. JUST YOUR FISTS.

You wake up on a decaying prison island overrun by cybernetic monsters. No weapons. No allies. You start with nothing but your fists and whatever you can rip out of the island itself. Every ability you gain is a key that opens a new part of the world.Voltage High Society is a Metroidvania built from the ground up in first person. Locked doors, ability gates, backtracking, shortcuts, secrets, and boss fights that test everything you've learned. Not a shooter with a map. A Metroidvania that happens to put you inside the body horror.

PUNCH FIRST. UPGRADE LATER.

Combat starts with your bare hands. Every new weapon and ability you find changes how you fight and where you can go. Melee-focused first-person combat rewards aggression and positioning, not camping behind cover.

5 LARGE AREAS. ONE CONNECTED WORLD.

Nemo Ultra is a dense, hand-crafted island built for exploration. Dead ends become shortcuts. Locked passages open when you find the right ability. Every zone connects, and the map rewards players who pay attention. Inspired by Tetsuo: The Iron Man and Escape from New York.

YOUR BODY IS YOUR PROGRESSION

New abilities are not just combat upgrades. They're keys to the world. Every power you gain reopens areas you've already explored, revealing hidden routes and secrets you missed the first time through.

BODY HORROR MEETS RETRO GRIT

PS1-era retro aesthetics meet modern lighting and creature design. Dark, oppressive corridors open into neon-lit arenas. The monsters are grotesque, the atmosphere is thick, and the world feels like a place that existed long before you arrived.

Competent game, some issues with visibility of enemies (they kind of blur into the environments at time, but that's on the game's visual style I suppose), good gameplay, quite a bit of getting lost and finding your way with no (real) map or a functioning indicators on where to go, but that's the hehe beauty of metroidvania-likes I suppose. No technical issues detected, game ran pretty well. Some dubbing for the NPCs or something would be nice, even if done with AI. Each boss is very much a method-based, and not hit-and-kill-based. Overall, I did like it, 7,5/10.

the game has good map design it was very fun to explore all the areas, most of the bosses were pretty fun to fight, and it was fun to beat up the enemies however the game is definitely flawed the combat is pretty barebones you can just punch most enemies making the unlockable moves kinda useless especially since most use energy, the last few areas felt pretty short and were less visually interesting, and dying has very little consequence with you only losing the items that restore energy and health which doesn't matter since your health and energy get set to max when respawning anyway overall I did really enjoy the game but going into it you should expect it to be flawed and I really hope the devs decide to make another game similar to this but polishing some of the mechanics a bit

The game is fine... that's it. The highlight is definitely the early game, it's pretty fun exploring the island, however, after a certain point, the game feels pretty "meh" in the sense of "alright, I get it, let's get this over with". The story is nothing spectacular , but it does its job and keeps you entertained. The downside is definitely after a certain point in the game
if the devs are reading this, it's after you fix the water in the mysterious facility, there is a multitude of softlocks after that point
, game design went really downhill after that. But ... it does its job as a videogame, keeping you entertained with the promised metroidvania style exploration, and to me, it was really worth it for the asked price. So overall it 's a solid 8/10.

Want to like this game BUT MAN THE ISSUES. short and simple. the map is ASS in every sense of the word. Some bosses, okay. the layout man, you need energy for the taser in some places BUT THE GAME HAS NO WAY IN THAT FIGHT TO REPLENISH THAT. The camera sensitivity sucks no way around it either slow has tar or fast has a slingshot. The game looks cool and has a good idea but these issues make me wanna eat bricks. not even worth 10 bucks.
