I think this might be one of the most underrated games I've ever played, I was blown away by the depth and complexity on display here. I simply cannot wait to play more! FULL VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_0kewMLM0E

In short, it is a combination of Metroid and Starward Rogue. Great little game! I only miss that it is practically dead, no updates since 2021. It has only 3 bosses and a very small map. I know it is a feature of the game but as there are very few Roguevanias, I really hoped for a greater longplay (at least as an alternative mode), especially as the upgrade system is really funny and everything is visual (even a damage boost, makes the bullets bigger) I really wish the developer would make an update with more stages and bosses, but I doubt it.

Weapon Hacker: The Selected Works Quick Hit Review Steam Curator page: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44858736/ Miraculous little game that generates mini-Metroidvania adventures on the fly (with surprising competency even though they're not bespoke), but that's only the delicious outer layer. The core of Weapon Hacker is the Weapon Hacking, where you add different firing modes to your gun, and different attributes to those modes, to create some real overpowered delicacies of sci-fi weaponry. It is without exaggeration a GAMES MEDIA CRIME that this game is not better known. Your journalists, they have failed you again

Rogue-lite Metroidvania with modular equipment/upgrades. Wanna shotgun laser blast? Slap a few splitters on a laser module and bam! shotgun laser blast. Want to be the bullet hell? several bounce upgrades, a few splitters, and long range upgrades and there you go! And that's before we get into the ability to stack different weapon types. What we have is fun, and shows good promise. It is however unfortunate that due to the lack of getting noticed it appears that the dev has stopped working on the game. Some might think what is there may not be enough, and I can't fully fault them on that. The base is there and it feels like it is ready and able to be built up from it, such as larger worlds, more upgrades, weapon types, etc etc etc. But sadly that's sometimes the fate of games that don't get noticed soon enough to let the devs continue working on them. Though there is also
a NG+ and NG++ of sorts
that is hidden in each run. And once finding that out it makes it feel a bit more full. Without knowing that, it does make it feel like the game is shorter than it actually is. Though the generated maps are a bit small, though that may be to your benefit considering …

An excellent, if a little short, rogue-lite metroidvania with tons of replay value.

It's a fun roguelike metroidvania, with a decent amount of variety compared to how long it took me to beat my first run. Going through the challenges after that is where it starts to get real repetitive. I think A Robot Named Fight is probably the better value, but this is a great second choice for that kind of "one more run" game with a metroidvania feel.
