About Weird and Unfortunate Things Are Happening
“THERE IS NO NIGHTMARE IN DAYBREAK. THE CITY IS ABSOLUTELY FINE. PLEASE FORGET THAT IT EVER EXISTED.”
Weird and unfortunate things are happening in the city of Daybreak. To the rest of the world, the city seems to have simply vanished, but inside, it has become a playground for mysterious beings who see humans only as hosts for their own amusement.

Alicia’s a bit strange. She still likes to wear her old baseball jersey, even though her team disbanded over a year ago. She can see otherworldly creatures that no one else seems to notice. She also has weird powers that she keeps hidden from the rest of the world. But when she receives a call for help from her niece in Daybreak, she’ll do anything to save her.
Caught up in the struggle along with Alicia are Miriam, a secretary and gun aficionado who only wants to escape the city, Lamar, an overworked middle school English teacher, and Dottie, Alicia’s niece, who has been captured for some nefarious purpose.
Explore what’s left of the ravaged city and find your way through surreal otherworldly areas that connect the broken urban shell. Encounter any other citizens who have survived and make contact with the strange entities that now inhabit this realm. Survive. Or be swallowed up by the city and forgotten forever.
Estimated playtime is 15-20 hours. Warnings: Game contains flashing lights and swearing.

I picked this up because someone on reddit was commenting that there are "dad games" but no "aunt games" and a wise commenter immediately responded with this game. I know I'm writing the review only an hour in, but I know I'm going to finish it. This is incredible! I love the character writing, and I love when a game clearly uses RPG maker but to really good effect, you know? The different abilities in battle are interesting and seem pretty balanced. The monsters and lore are fascinating. Why is this free?? Let me pay the kind dev a few bucks! This is such a banger and I can't wait to play more.3 found this helpful
This game is awesome. Good story, good gameplay, good music... there's really nothing missing, this is the real deal. And at $0, it is quite the deal!
Just as the title says, the game is weird-at times a little trippy-and quite unfortunate things do happen in the story. WAUTAH is a good horror turn-based RPG that I enjoyed playing every minute, even through what I considered a road bump towards the end game. If you're looking for a weekend RPG to play that deals with monsters, supernatural, and others thing, I'd recommend giving this game a shot. Plus it's FREE!
100% the game because I love the gameplay so much, battle system is really fun, love the designs of the different areas, and obsessed with the character cast. The story is intriguing and I loved the ending too!
this definately gives mother 2 vibes in the best way possible. down to the main character using a baseball bat and doing the same damage as the one who can use a gun. the cthuluesqe monsters from the outer realms bit is also well done in the kinda tongue in cheek mother-like way.
An rpg for adults that has classic Earthbound feel to it. I was surprised this game was free. Very generous of the devs, I'd have easily paid money for this.
