✦ AI summary
Winds of Valen is praised as a charming indie MMORPG that captures the classic progression-based feel of old-school RuneScape, with players appreciating the sense of accomplishment from skill training and exploration. The main complaint is that the game currently feels light on content compared to established titles, though players remain optimistic about its potential and future development by the small team working on it.
Preface this with I feel like before the update I got my $22 worth from the sub. But I can no longer recommend the game as it no longer reflects what I was playing for. 168 hours into the game and I was going strong. Bought a 6 month sub in anticipation and everything. Then the smithing rework drops. No longer does it mirror the Runescape Classic vibe I was chasing. It's now just a mess of busy work designed just to provide multiple new steps to create something for the sake of keeping you busy (And annoyed). Making a single piece of gear ate up almost 3 inventory worth of bars, and even then I couldn't finish the item because now I have to go and find some sort of vest lining from an unknown source creating another unnecessary step. Swing and a miss devs. Don't change what people liked and came for. I just can't suffer through this system, I wont. I'm allowed to have a preference, and I wanted that classic vibe to scratch the itch. It's gone forever, and so am I.3 found this helpful

The vibe of the game screams Runescape. Graphically, this is what Runescape 3 should have been. Other than that it's lacking a lot of features and contents to invest my time. Maybe in 2 or 3 years.2 found this helpful
Game is great so far. I will add more to my review once I got more hours.1 found this helpful
Cute lil mmo, sure you'll learn most enemy types, craftable items, and everything about the game in a short time but it's totally free and enjoyable1 found this helpful
After grinding for 4 hours and making through iron armor, I logged out. The next day, all of my bank inventory was gone and it said "members only" I was originally allowed the first page of the bank, but now that progress is gone after 1 day. The servers are empty. I was on US West Servers and the population was NINE.
