Your Friend, Sam impresses players with its charming art style, environmental design, and strong voice acting, earning praise for its pleasant aesthetic and creative vision. However, the game suffers from tonal inconsistency across chapters, lack of mid-chapter saves or health recovery, and unclear narrative direction, which frustrates players when deaths force complete replays and leave them uncertain about their objectives.

Cool project, renderings a little rough but there's a hand-drawn subaru so it's ok. Voice acting is awesome but I wish there was more direction at times. Kinda don't know what's going on, or more importantly, why I should be doing what I'm doing.

Your friend, Sam is a free 3D adventure game about finding a long-lost friend. My main problems with it are that it can't seem to make up its mind about whether to be cosy & sweetish (woods chapters 1 & 3), mildly threatening (maze chapters 2 & 4), or full-on "bullet hell" monster horde survival (chapter 5); this is as far as I got, so I don't know what, if anything, comes next. None of this would matter too much, but the absence of any kind of save function or of recharging health mid-chapter (as far as I can tell), means that failure necessitates running the whole game again - and I didn't enjoy it anywhere near enough to do that, sadly. Surely a basic "end of chapter" save, at least, would have been easy enough to implement, to avoid complete replays? Less importantly, but very frustrating, particularly when being chased, is getting lost in the foliage - or even passing right through it to the outer world - in the mazes; the maze "walls" need to be more solid. Anyway, as it is, Sam must forever remain lost, for me at least. Sorry, Sam...

For what the game is, its nice. Very pleasant to look at and pretty charming. Can't wait to see how Angry Sea Studios improves their skills in the future.

15 minutes into my playthrough of the game I couldn't take it anymore and began to run around the town like Paul Revere spreading news of this glorious game. I was later arrested and taken away in cuff to the station where I begged them to give me their laptop in order to finish playing the game. After threats to eat my own leg, they begrudgingly handed me one so I could finish the game. 7/10 I couldn't b-hop.

A somewhat janky experience that gives you another good reason not to climb trees.
