About 9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek

✦ AI summary

Investigate a snake-infested coastal town in 1950s noir style to uncover the mysterious disappearance of a famous reporter using a unique Detective Mode that lets you combine clues to solve paranormal crimes. Blend hidden-object puzzle gameplay with genuine investigative work, eerie atmosphere, and a complex mystery filled with unexpected twists.

9 Clues: The Secret of Serpent Creek is an original hidden-object puzzle-adventure game, featuring a totally unique Detective Mode. This thrilling mystery merges elements of classical horror and gritty, 50’s-style noir.
A paranormal private investigator is contacted by her friend, famous reporter Helen Hunter, whose voice sounds small and terrified in the voicemail. She is in the coastal town of Serpent Creek, and needs help immediately.
But upon arriving in Serpent Creek, the detective finds no trace of Ms. Hunter.
Weirder still is the fact the town’s streets are crawling with snakes, and the citizens seem to be sleepwalking through life. The ground shakes with violent tremors.
When investigating Serpent Creek, the detective will perform true investigative work: finding clues and combining them to learn the secrets of every crime scene in the all new Detective Mode!

The game works, I enjoyed many of the puzzles, and I laughed SO HARD at the game thinking I was gonna take it's dramatic snake cultists and bad acting seriously. This is getting recommended for the stupidity alone. The art is bad, the voice-acting is bad, the animation is bad (but kinda charming), the character motives are bad, the big bad guy was obvious and very stupid, and the only reason it takes the protagonist so long to figure out the plot is because she, too, is an idiot. I did like the guy you team up with, though, even if he gets knocked out for the last leg of the game.

The fact that this has a very positive rating is proof that people are generally polite. Is the art good? No. Is the animation good? Also, no. Story? No. Puzzle design? No. Puzzle variety? Again... No. Even among the relatively bland and low effort world of hidden object games, this is a dim bulb.

if you buy this game then you know what you are getting and will enjoy it. i enjoyed it BUT the HO scenes are pathetically simple. most items are not hidden.

Pretty good game. Story line keeps you interested in taking the next step. Combo of mystery, aliens and detective work. I like the way the evidence room takes on a 3D form and plays it out like a movie, pretty cool. Not hard puzzles and hidden objects are pretty easy too. But thats in the casual mode. The other 2 modes are more challenging, but if you start with casual mode and paid attention, they shouldnt be too hard either. I enjoyed the game, found it relaxing. Price was great too. 5 stars
